Updated: Thursday, 26 Jul 2012 11:54 Maria de Villota has not suffered any neurological injuries

Maria de Villota was yesterday released from hospital following an accident that resulted in her losing her right eye while test driving for Marussia earlier this month.

De Villota required two operations at Addendrooke's Hospital in the English city of Cambridge in the wake of a crash at Duxford Airfield.

The incident saw the 32-year-old Spaniard run into the tailgate of a stationary service vehicle at the end of an installation run whilst conducting a straightline aero test.

She was admitted to Madrid's La Paz hospital last week and has since undergone plastic surgery.

A statement from the hospital released on her behalf revealed she has not suffered any neurological injuries.

"The patient is in good general condition, so she was discharged from hospital yesterday," the statement read.

"in these six days, she has been treated by specialists of the plastic and neurological surgery services, and the ophthalmology department, who will continue to follow her, as she will need to undergo periodical checks and treatments.

"As announced previously, the patient has lost her right eye, as a consequence of the serious trauma suffered, and she will be closely followed by the ophthalmology service.

"The specialists of the plastic surgery service will be responsible for following the serious injuries to her face and correcting the effects of those."

Plastic surgery review championed by Marie Claire's editor

Marie Claire UK's editor Trish Halpin will sit on a groundbreaking new panel to consider how plastic surgery can be regulated and made safer.the panel has been set up by health secretary Andrew Lansley after the crisis over PIP implants last year. 40,000 British women had implants from the French manufacturer, who had used dangerous, illegal industrial silicone.Sir Bruce Keogh, the NHS's medical director, will head up the panel which also includes leading surgeons and academics. his aims include tightening up the rules on advertising and putting tougher regulations into place. He also wants to introduce minimum training requirements for surgeons carrying out the procedures and carrying out psychological screening on people considering surgery to ensure they are not just seeking surgery to cover up an underlying mental health issue.Sir Bruce also wants to ban advertising 'aggresive' two-for-one surgery deals, for example a tummy tuck which also comes with liposuction.SURGEONS URGE ADVERTISING BAN ON COSMETIC SURGERYThe review is expected to recommend a compulsory register of implants to monitor women's health more readily. At the moment the law does not require those perfoming cosmetic surgery to be actual surgeons and botox can be administered by anybody who has simply completed a half-day training course. In May Marie Claire published an article about breast implants and what you need to know.the top five things to think about when considering breast implants:- Implants should contain medical-grade silicone- You should be able to see and feel implants before you choose to have them done.- the safest brands include Allergan, Mentor, Nagor and Silimed.- some implants have a lifetime warranty against rupture and 'capsular contracture' (a hardening that occurs to six – 17 per cent of cases). Rupture occurs in two per cent of cases.- Three in 100 women need another operation. Ensure your surgeon is UK based so you can contact them easily in case of problems. What do you think needs to happen to make plastic surgery safer? Have you ever had a bad experience? Tom Ford To Show Men’s Collection In London

by Samantha Randazzo | 1:40 pm, August 1st, 2012

Tom Ford has decided to show his men’s collection at the second-ever London Collections: Men showcase.

The show will be held at Ford’s Westminster headquarters, and will be the first time the designer has shown his men’s collection in London. The sophomore run of the London shows, which is set to take place Jan. 7-9, will start a day ahead of Florence’s Pitti Immagine Uomo, which is generally considered the most important men’s fashion event of the year.

London Collections: Men’s inaugural run was in June. The British Fashion Council, who organizes LC:M, already has plans to turn the event into a twice-yearly one. Dylan Jones, chair of LC:M and editor of British GQ, said in a statement:

“The inaugural men’s week was far more successful than any of us anticipated and we have been overwhelmed by support and enthusiasm for the project. LC:M has already contributed to the changing perception of men’s wear in this country and our plans for the next week in January, and beyond, will hopefully build on this.”

Ford deciding to show at LC:M will certainly help BFC on its way to getting the event a permanent spot on the fashion industry’s calendar. maybe other prominent menswear designers will follow in his footsteps!

Plastic Surgery Is Safe, Reliable, And Offers Great Results

Most people aim to look their absolute best in life. sometimes this means fixing up or improving parts of their appearances that are unsatisfactory in their own eyes, and this is totally reasonable. One great and effective method of self-beautification is plastic surgery. Today, tons of people are choosing to go under the knife to correct bothersome features on their bodies. When considering this option it’s only normal to have some concerns about the risks that operations can have on the body. but cosmetic procedures are safe, reliable, and offer amazing results Cosmetic surgeons have years of experience and work diligently to transform the lives of others.

Following any type of operation or procedure, there are certain risks. this is why people must follow specific directions following the procedure. this might include avoiding physical activity for a few days or weeks or wearing bandages. The biggest risk that can come with operations is infection. but this rarely happens anymore, because only the most certified surgeons offer services to the public. These professionals have been trained to the highest degree in areas such as the face, body, breasts, skin, as well as many others.

One way to avoid having any complications with plastic surgery is easy: simply consult with a professional. an initial consultation is needed before the process of having cosmetic work begins. A thorough examination can determine if a person is healthy enough for the desired procedure and which route would be the best to take if the person is a good candidate. Cosmetic work doesn’t just happen overnight. The patients have to be carefully evaluated. Any type of operation is very serious and should be given careful treatment.

Some popular forms of plastic surgery today include rhinoplasty, breast augmentations and lifts, abdominoplasty or tummy tucks, face lifts, liposuction and many others. Basically any area of the body can be altered or corrected. If you can name it, there’s a procedure for it. And great results are guaranteed. before and after pictures as well as testimonies from former patients can tell of the great effects that this work can have on individuals. A person’s body can be given a more youthful and healthy appearance, and confidence can be restored.

Plastic surgery is also affordable for all. this method of beautification is becoming more common and has proven to be the most effective method for bodily improvement. there are flaws that makeup cannot cover. there are body parts that diet and exercise aren’t enough to shrink. there are skin issues that creams and lotions cannot eliminate. but the right operation can solve all of these problems and more. whether a person’s nose is too big or stomach too flabby, the most reasonable step to take is the right procedure. Let’s face it, this method is more effective because it offers lasting results and can eliminate certain problems for good there may be negative associations with cosmetic procedures, but the truth is it is safe and offers the best results.

Cory Booker Slams Drug War As A Failure

The U.S. comprises 5 percent of the world's population yet uses 60 percent of the world's drugs. the prohibition on these drugs has been waged for 70 years and has cost $1.5 trillion.

Prohibition has cruelly ruined the lives of millions of peaceful and productive citizens while bankrolling the most evil people on the planet. Prohibition has stagnated the normal economy while allowing criminal enterprises to control an untaxed thriving underground economy worth over 300,000 million dollars. By it's emphasis on the eradication of marijuana/hemp we have also been denied the most workable and logical solutions to a number of growing problems, be they medicinal, industrial, chemical or commercial.

According to the CATO Institute, ending prohibition would save an annual $41 billion of expenditure while generating an estimated $46 billion in tax revenues.

http://www.cato.org/pubs/wtpapers/DrugProhibitionWP.pdf

Thanks to Prohibition we now have a far higher percentage of our own citizens locked in cages than any other nation on the whole planet. apart from the fact that these extra prisoners are not contributing economically to society, it also costs 50,000 dollars per annum to incarcerate them. Additionally their families often go on government assistance, and it's again the average tax payer who has to pick up the bill. their kids may be taken into care or raised by foster parents, again with tax payer money. Now add to all this the court costs, jail costs, and the salaries of all those people that have to deal with the enforcement of prohibition, like police officers, judges and public defenders and you'll start to get a fair idea of why "Black Thursday", October 24, 1929 happened during the period of another of our great experiments – Alcohol Prohibition.

* the United States has the highest incarceration rate in the world.* 743 adults incarcerated per 100,000 population at year-end 2009.* 2,292,133 adults were incarcerated in federal and state prisons, and county jails at year-end 2009, that's approx. 1% of US adults.* Additionally, 4,933,667 adults at year-end 2009 were on probation or parole.* In 2009, 7,225,800 adults were under correctional supervision (probation, parole, or incarcerated) – about 3.1% of adults in the U.S. resident population.

Chart Of the Day: Federal Drug Prisoners.http://tinyurl.com/csfvb9n

During alcohol prohibition, all profits went to enrich criminals and corrupt politicians. Young men died every day on inner-city streets while battling over turf. A fortune was wasted on enforcement that could have gone on education, etc. on top of the budget-busting prosecution and incarceration costs, billions in taxes were lost. Finally, the economy collapsed. Sound familiar?

Prohibition causes massive crime and suffering, causes government/police corruption, causes America to have the highest prison population of any country in the history of the planet, causes Americans to lose all their rights and all their true core-values, causes the waste of trillions in taxpayer dollars, causes wars, violence and death (at home and abroad), perpetuates racism, causes America to be hated by other countries, and funds both criminals and terrorists.

For God's sake wake up! the prisons are bursting, the police are corrupt, most of us are not even safe in our own homes anymore and the whole country/planet is on the verge of a total social and financial collapse.

Introducing our Newest Guest Blogger: Is She a bit Like You? «

Submitted by Sue Teague, Retired RN,  CosMed Patient & Guest Blogger

Maybe you have thought that cosmetic surgery “is not for me.” maybe you are right. however, it is likely that you arrived at the CosMed website and are reading this because you are curious what you might be getting into as you begin to explore cosmetic surgery.

Perhaps, you are contemplating a cosmetic procedure with less than complete information and are not sure how to get the facts you need. Perhaps you are hesitant with thoughts of pain, fear of the unknown or dread critical judgments by others. maybe you are harshly judging your own sanity! All of these concerns are common and can be valuable in the “discovery process” because they slow you down from what is an emotionally based pursuit. After all, this surgery is elective and cosmetic! such an important decision as cosmetic surgery should not be entered into lightly or with unexamined expectations.

About my blog posts for COSMED:This story began as a personal blog for my friends and family and morphed into a series. I, along with CosMed, believed that an “informational blog” might be of interest to readers. when preparing for surgery, there is much groundwork that needs to be done including personal, emotional, medical, and financial questions that need to be addressed before scheduling. however, pulling the details together is manageable, especially if you remember the Rule of ONE-a minimalist approach to problem solving where you focus on ONE thing at a time.

About Sue, the Blogger:This Blog will be a series written by one woman who wrestled with many of the same questions and issues as you are.

I am Sue, a 63-year-old widow. these are the two most important factors that relate to the desire for a facelift-age and marital status.

Why is age important? Chronological age represents a clock of my time here on Planet Earth; if I am to believe the actuaries, then my clock is at now at 4:38pm (nearly cocktail time!). I have some time until the clock strikes midnight and am acutely aware of the passage of time.

Why is my marital status an important factor? Now, I check off the “Widow” box on my tax return. the protracted and extremely difficult nature of my husband’s cancer journey took an ugly toll on my body; I became more overweight and my face fell along with my hopes for the future. the unrelenting stressors of caretakings after-effects are well-documented and were painfully evident whenever I looked in the mirror. My face aged a decade in 2 years. Every time I looked at myself, I was reminded of the awfulness of losing my husband. it has been 3 years since his passing and I decided it was time to heal the outside of me. I have lost 30 lbs. it is time for my facelift.

My personality occupies the high end of the “happiness scale”; in fact, I have been told that there might be something seriously wrong with me. What can I say-I was blessed with happy Hormones and a sometimes annoyingly cheerful disposition. I spend 4-5 months/year traveling the US with my bichon frise, Cassie, spending time with friends and family from coast-to-coast. My inquisitive, outgoing nature is a perfect match for my RV travel lifestyle. I especially enjoy the beauty and solitude of our country’s national parks. I seek new experiences; last year I went whitewater rafting and this year I am planning a zip line at the Royal Gorge in Colorado. Solo travel can be too solitary at times, so I write a Blog to stay in contact with my F & F who seem to vicariously enjoy my adventures. I am sometimes obsessed with doing things on the computer and some of my friends think I am “geeky.”

When not traveling, I reside in a modest over-55 retirement community in Florida where my activities as a newsletter editor bring me both Yays and Nays depending on your politics. I ignore the Naysayers. there will always be people who feel it is their job to rain on other peoples’ parade.I decided NOT to tell people of my choice to have a facelift until after-the-fact. This makes it easier for me as I do not have to repeatedly explain myself. it is also more comfortable for those who have fears and biases struggling with the concept and how to react to my plan. My annual extended vacation to the west coast from Florida enabled my “stealth mode plan” to take place.

FinancialMost would not expect a retired RN, widowed from a retired police officer, to be rich. that is true of my situation. I expected to pay a lot of money for a facelift was ready and willing to part with some savings. I have always fervently believed that we always find ways to do what we believe to be important and will always find reasons not to do things that are not as important. I made budgetary sacrifices to go forward with cosmetic surgery.

Whether you are young and wishing enhancements to your appearance or a young-elder and desire corrections to age-related assaults to your appearance, motivating factors are vanity-based. After all, we are talking about cosmetic surgery! I choose not to label myself as a vain person and I decided to call my facelift “self-care.”

So, here we go! I hope you find something to enjoy and learn through my experience of cosmetic surgery with CosMed.

Silicone Breast Implants Are Rapidly Becoming the Norm for Today’s American Woman

Everyone is doing it seemed to be the mantra for Breast Augmentation in 2010. And as compared to even ten years ago, Denver breast augmentation is not only talked about but is often the topic of polite conversation. why this abrupt change? More and more women are realizing that the results of breast enhancement can be natural and create a more proportionate figure, overall.

For many cosmetic plastic surgery practices, clients come from all walks of life but they all want the same thing.a natural and proportionate look. Many of these women have had children and find that their breast volume was dramatically reduced following pregnancy or breast feeding. And while some are simply looking to restore the shape that they once had, others have always dreamed of larger, shapelier breasts and now feel empowered to achieve this.

Whatever the motivation, breast augmentation has changed dramatically over the last few years largely due to improvements in the breast implant itself. In particular, silicone gel implants are now more durable and more lifelike than in previous years. Nationwide, we are seeing more and more women educated about and coming in asking for the new cohesive implants. Some have seen friend’s results and were impressed with the natural look and feel while others are simply looking for a more natural alternative to saline-filled breast implants. In the past few years, more and more clients are gravitating towards this choice to the extent that cohesive gel implants have become the predominant choice for breast augmentation across North America. And the common theme is that Board Certified Plastic Surgeons are continually hearing positive feedback from clients regarding these implants; many often go so far as to say that they cannot even feel the implants beneath their own breast tissue and that after the healing process they don’t even feel like they have implants.they simply have larger, more shapely breasts.

The shift towards silicone gel breast augmentation is simply a reflection of a trend towards more natural results in Plastic Surgery overall. While many clients want to look better, they still want to look like themselves and want options that allow them to do just that. Young moms are realizing that pregnancy is a new beginning on several fronts and that the body changes incurred can be addressed with a minimal downtime procedure yielding very natural results.

Treatments may reduce cellulite appearance

Flashing those pearly whites can show off your sweet dimples. but, sadly, not all your dimples are on your face.

Dimples on your buttocks, thighs and abdomen may not be so sweet and attractive.

Cellulite can affect all body types and people: thin and overweight, tall and short, fair- and dark-skinned, young and old, male and female.

At-home remedies, such as exercise, strength workouts and creams, are temporary and may help reduce the appearance of cellulite on a small level, but a permanent fix is still in the works.

Here are two new treatments that may help minimize the appearance of cellulite and show lasting results.

I-Lipo

I-Lipo is a non-invasive treatment to help reduce body fat and cellulite.

A low level of laser energy is released through treatment pads that affect triglycerides, a type of fat, and transforms them into free fatty acids and glycerol, which then can be released into the body to be burned.

I-Lipo has been successful in Europe for years, and buzz for the treatment has grown in the United States, said Julia Guilbeault, a certified laser technician and owner of Biltmore Laser & Beauty Center in Phoenix.

“The appearance of cellulite is one of the hardest things to treat,” she said. “I-Lipo has a heated mechanism that will soften the tissue and liquefy, reducing the appearance.”

Results can be seen after one session, but Guilbeault recommends eight treatments to achieve satisfactory results. Exercise is recommended to complement treatment.

The procedure is fast (it can be done during a lunch break) and pain-free.

“It’s nothing more than just a light, warm feeling,” Guilbeault said.

Treatments run from $350 to $650 per procedure, depending on the location on the body. Packages also are available for multiple treatments.

Cellulaze

This minimally invasive procedure purports to reduce underlying fat stores and stimulate collagen production.

A small needle is used to pierce the desired treatment location, and a tiny laser is inserted to sever fibrous bands beneath the skin that pull on the epidermis and cause dimpling. Heat from the laser also thickens the skin.

The problem with cellulite is that the fat is more vertically oriented and builds into columns and bulges beneath the skin, said Dr. Daniel Shapiro, owner of Shapiro Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and Skin Klinic in Scottsdale.

“Cellulite is something we’ve never been able to treat,” he said. “We use that laser beneath the skin, and the inflammation makes collagen grow and increases skin elasticity.”

Exercise is good but not mandatory after the procedure.

The procedure runs one to two hours and costs $4,500 to $5,500 for two 8.5- by 11-inch areas.

The Cost of Mole Removal – Surgery Vs Do It Yourself

The exact cost of mole removal will depend on several variables.

# 1 – the procedure you choose: Medical procedure vs. Do it yourself.

# 2 – Plastic surgeon vs. General Practitioner

# 3 – Where you will have it done? Large metropolitan city vs. Small Town

# 4 – What type of mole you have?

Let’s take a look at moles in general, the differences and what you might expect the cost of mole removal to be. Moles are formed on the skin due to excessive pigmentation. although moles are usually tiny, round and dark spots on the surface of the skin, they can cause a person to be very self-conscious if formed on a prominent skin area like the face. Many people have been quoted saying that not everyone can carry off a face mole like Marilyn Monroe

If you’re faced with moles, rest assured that they may be harmless if they were formed at birth and can be easily dealt with. if they are formed over the years and grow in size or change in shape over time, you should consult a doctor as these moles can be cancerous. if your moles are from birth however, there are many mole removal remedies you can opt for, depending on the cost and how much you are willing to pay for this aesthetically-necessary change.

Mole removal by plastic surgery is one option. Yes, the hype in the 90s was not only about changing skin color or getting a nose job, but removing moles through plastic surgery too. you can easily find a local clinic specializing in this but bear in mind that plastic surgery is very expensive. if your moles are only an appearance problem it is unlikely you insurance provider will cover the cost.

You may have heard or seen promotions from plastic surgeons offering financing. while researching the cost I found offers as low as 7.99 % financing. Let’s use an example of a procedure that the surgeon charges $500 for. if you finance it you may end up paying over $1000 for one mole removal.

One of the largest medical financing companies will allow you to pay for your procedure over time. if you pay off you total amount borrowed within an agreed time frame, usually one year you will pay no interest. the catch is this, and what they are counting on is that you do not pay if off within that time frame. Then the interest may be as high as 29 %. your cost of removing your mole would jump perhaps as high as $2000.

Another option is going for laser surgery. although laser surgery is one the best mole removal techniques out there, the cost are similar to those of plastic surgery as discuss above.

You may be able to get rid of your mole at home for less than $100.There are ways you can remove a mole yourself. One very effective method of removing a mole yourself is rubbing honey over it until it penetrates and then covering the area with a bandage for the night. Repeat this procedure for a few weeks and you will notice the mole disappearing gradually.

Beauty :: A Facial Exercise Analysis

Facial exercises, or cosmetic surgery, in the journey to look younger, or for feature improvement, are all about choosing well after weighing up the advantages and cons. We look at the advantages of both methods. You get two types of cosmetic surgery: aesthetics and reconstructive. Aesthetics or cosmetic is when you aspire to enhance or improve upon a certain feature of one’s looks. Reconstructive surgery is repairing a deformity or wound e.g. Help for an accident or burn victim. Cosmetic surgery has the following advantages: 1. Cosmetic surgery has fast, radical results. Following healing, you can literally look 10 to 15 years younger in a space of about three weeks. 2. Cosmetic surgery, in the form of repairing or reconstructive procedures, can work miracles for the patient to permanently further his or her appearance. 3. Contingent on the competence of your surgeon, you can get the precise outcome that you seek. 4. One can focus on very specific regions on the face and neck, like under or around the eyes, or by lifting and snipping away skin to do away with “turkey neck”. 5. One’s self-assurance levels will increase because of the psychological elements. You look better, so you feel better, even indestructible! 6. Cosmetic surgery and plastic surgery can remedy certain defects or malformations of the face to make you look better, or more youthful. 7. Nowadays, cosmetic surgery is cheaper than it used to be, and the probability of plastic or cosmetic surgery gone wrong is uncommon, due to stringent medical standards and regulations. Face exercises, which are executed by the patient by means of their own fingertips, on the other hand, have the following pros: 1. You are in control of your own transformation to looking years younger, and not a cosmetic surgeon. 2. The results are permanent if you maintain a facial workout program or regimen. The more you work the points on the face, the better the results, much like being in the gym! 3. It’s totally without charge to carry out the facial exercises because it’s a form of non-surgical facelift. 4. No doctors or surgeons, no blade cutting into your face, no stitches or scarring, which means that your procedure is non-invasive. 5. You can carry out the facial workout anywhere in the home, in traffic jams, at the bus stop, whilst watching television etc. 6. Facial exercises and toning open up the channels and nodal points in the face and neck so that blood can flow into the cells and skin, thereby nourishing them. 7. Not only will wrinkles smoothen, but you will in addition lift sagging face skin, eliminate hog jowls, and bring back color to the face and neck. On choosing which path to take between facial exercises and cosmetic surgery, you will need to know what your budget is, and to be willing to acknowledge the albeit minor, risk of plastic surgery gone wrong. Also remember that the results that you’re seeking are quick, so they will be instantly noticed by friends, colleagues, and family. if you don’t mind other persons knowing that you’ve had some sort of cosmetic surgery procedure, then this might be the manner to go. Just remember that you may have to hang about at home and out of view for some time until the bruising subsides and the bandages are removed. I myself prefer yoga facial exercises because they save me money and the hassle of seeing a cosmetic surgeon, plus I don’t wish to risk any negative cosmetic surgery unwanted side effects. when I first began a face exercise workout, it took some time for me to see the positive effects, since it’s not as radical as cosmetic surgery. My friends and family actually began commenting in regards to the fact that I was looking fresher and younger, and that my cheeks seemed to be rosier. This was great incentive for me to carry on and even intensify the routines of my facial exercise program. Albeit I was sceptical in the beginning, I am now a fan of this type of non-surgical facelift, and I appear to be years younger than when I started off. Just consider that it calls for about 20 minutes per day using your fingertips for the initial month. After that, straightforward facial toning maintenance of about 2 to 3 times a week will do the trick like a dream. It just calls for a bit of commitment when going the facial exercises route versus the price tag, risk, and temporary results of cosmetic surgery. At the end of the day it’s your looks, so it’s your option as to whether or not to avail yourself of cosmetic surgery or facial exercises, in your quest to look years younger.
