Chamber To Present President’s Award To Vincent R. DiGregorio

Vincent R. DiGregorio, MD, Vincent R. DiGregorio, MD, senior partner at Garden City-based Long Island Plastic Surgical Group (www.LIPSG.com), the largest and oldest practice of its kind in North America, will be the recipient of the prestigious President’s Award from the Garden City Chamber of Commerce. this award is in recognition of his extreme volunteerism toward local charities and within the Garden City business community and beyond.

The award will be presented at the Garden City Chamber of Commerce’s 10th Anniversary Pineapple Ball on Friday evening, may 4th 2012 at the Garden City Hotel.

In addition to his work within the LIPSG practice, Dr. DiGregorio is the Chief of Plastic Surgery at Winthrop University Hospital and also the President of Day-Op Center of Long Island, a locally-based, freestanding ambulatory surgery center where many patients elect to have their surgery. Dr. DiGregorio is also very involved in LIPSG’s sponsorships of two of Garden City’s major annual events: the Belmont Festival in June, and the Chamber’s Fall Festival Street Fair in October.

Indeed, Dr. DiGregorio’s charitable work includes volunteering far beyond Garden City and Long Island. as Vice President and Board Member of Mission: Restore, the volunteer foundation founded by LIPSG, Dr. DiGregorio has literally traveled across the world to provide service and education in underserved areas. during the past year alone, Mission:Restore has traveled to Haiti, Afghanistan, India and Nepal helping local doctors and patients ravaged by an array of burns and other serious, life-threatening injuries.

Dr. DiGregorio is also heavily involved with the DR. STITCH program, Long island Plastic surgical Group’s 24 hour hotline and service for emergency treatment, including burns, facial trauma, complex wounds and lacerations. Dr. STITCH has plastic surgeons on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week – 365 days a year, who meet patients at an emergency room or in one of LIPSG’s convenient office locations.

As LIPSG senior surgeon, Dr. DiGregorio has more than 20 years of experience performing the most advanced reconstructive and cosmetic surgical procedures. DiGregorio received his MD degree from Albany Medical College in Albany, new York. After his internship at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic Hospital, he completed his General Surgery residency at Boston University Hospital and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. DiGregorio received his advanced residency training in Plastic Surgery at Nassau County Medical Center in East Meadow, new York. Dr. DiGregorio has also served in the rank of Major in the United States Armed Forces.

Dr. Gregorio will share honors at the Pineapple Ball with Patti Tenaglia, “Citizen of the Year,” John Garvey, “Community Achievement Award” recipient; and Frank Pelliccione, “Business Person of the Year.” Additionally, Courtney Basel, a Garden City High School senior, will receive the Chamber Foundation’s “Excellence in Business Education Award.”
