TORONTO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–HERBIE FUND will present special awards to DR. GEORGES AZZIE and SUZANNE ROGERS as part of its annual MISTLETOE BALL. The gala dinner and auction, a high point of Toronto’s holiday season, will be staged on SATURDAY, DECEMBER 3 at the Four Seasons Hotel (21 Avenue Road, 6:00 pm).

Dr. Azzie will be recognized for the difference he’s made in leading life-saving and life-altering surgery for Herbie Fund patients at the Hospital for Sick Children, both in this and many past years. The 2011 recipient of the Doctor of the Year Award is a great humanitarian, making annual trips to Africa for three months at a time to share his expertise, advancing the surgical training of doctors in Botswana.
while the presentation of the Doctor of the Year has been a regular fixture at the Mistletoe Ball for some time now, Ms. Rogers will be saluted as the first-ever recipient of the newly created Spirit Award. It’s intended to recognize her outstanding commitment, loyalty and dedication to Herbie Fund. in more recent years, Ms. Rogers has emerged as a nearly unmatched philanthropic force in Toronto. The proud mother of three has taken a special interest in Herbie Fund and other children’s charities as well.
