What a Facelift Can Do For You

If you’ve been noticing wrinkles, drooping eyes and sagging skin on your face, have you been wondering if you should get a facelift? Plastic surgery may be the answer you’ve been seeking. it can tighten loose muscles, remove fat deposits and change the appearance of your face like nothing else can.

Let’s face it (no pun intended), everyone ages. We all do it at our own rate. Many factors, such as smoking, stress or genetics play a part in the aging process, but it’s definitely something none of us can avoid. there are ways, however, to slow down the appearance of aging and eliminate some of the effects of lost elasticity in our skin. That’s where cosmetic surgery enters the picture.

There are plenty of ways to smooth away fine lines and wrinkles with minor procedures and even special creams. but for tougher age-related fixes, a facelift is vital. The technique will tighten, lift and reshape making you look like a million bucks

Here are a few important things to be aware of. When consulting with your cosmetic specialist, make sure you ask him these 3 things.

1.Know what to expect.

2.Know what is involved.

3.Learn about the recovery period.

It seems as if people over forty, especially Baby Boomers, are beginning to really care about what they eat, if they exercise and how they look. They’re the ones who are really beginning to show signs of aging, and they want to do something about it. It’s only natural to want to look good for as long as you can.

What a facelift can do for you.

1.it can tighten and remove loose and excess skin.

2.it can remove cheek jowls.

3.it can pull up the mouth corners.

4.it can reduce cheek and lip creases.

The good news is, if done well, a facelift can last anywhere from 5 – 10 years why? Because it doesn’t just eliminate what’s on the face but it deals with face structure too. and, many people also opt for liposuction at the same time as their facelift to get rid of fat deposits surrounding the face.

Even though it can last a long time, it’s good to understand there are limits to this procedure. A facelift can only help the face, it can only correct very deep wrinkles and sagging areas and it doesn’t stop aging completely.

Many things will determine how long your procedure will last. Many unwise choices, such as smoking, drinking and too much sun will surely cause Father Time to come knocking at your door again. Heredity also will play a huge part in how long it will last. That’s why it’s crucial you make sure you’re living a very healthy lifestyle to enhance your chances of facelift longevity.

Statistically, most people are completely satisfied with their enhanced appearance and would do it again if they could. It’s a fantastic way to turn back the clock and improve your self-image and confidence.

Creating Beautiful Earlobes

Believe it or not, cosmetic surgery for earlobes; that’s right, earlobe procedures, are always among the most commonly performed plastic surgery procedures in the United States Surprised?

Earlobes are sensual and sexy and a part of the overall look of the face. When adorned with jewelry, the variety of messages we can send – casual, formal, mysterious, artsy, flirty – are limited only by the imagination. After all, earlobes are the #1 most popular body piercing in the world.

But a common problem is the overstretched piercing hole in the earlobe. perhaps it’s simply that the hole was originally pierced too large, or that it somehow healed that way, or it was pierced too low and close to the lower edge. some pierce sites seem to stretch and slowly enlarge as the years go by. is it the aging process or was the repeated use of large, heavy, dangling earrings also to blame? When the hole is too big, a small post-style earring, let’s say one with a one carat diamond stud, slips out, unnoticed, right through the hole, and it’s gone. how many expensive earrings do you have to lose before you get that earlobe fixed?

Very often, the ever-enlarging earlobe pierce hole reveals itself one day to actually have become a full split, the so-called torn earlobe. it is now impossible to wear a post – there’s no hole anymore, just a split. You could wear a clip-on. but without anything on the lobe, it looks pretty bad. Sometimes that last little bit of skin still holding the earlobe together below the enlarging hole gets a little help to finish off the tear needed to make a split – a wandering baby’s hands (fascinated by the sparkling ear jewelry), a wayward old-fashioned telephone cord, a sweater, sweatshirt, t-shirt or towel that caught it just the right way, hair brushing trauma or those big, heavy earrings again?

Whether an enlarged hole or a split, the reconstructive repair is actually a very easy deal. With a little local anesthetic and dissolvable stitches, 15 minutes later you’re done and soon the earlobe will look like it did originally, like the split or the cosmetic procedure to fix it never happened. a new, fresh, tight pierce hole can be placed at the same time as the repair, and you can wear your earrings right out of the office Total cost? Typically $300 – $400 per ear.

Then there are the hanging, loose and overall enlarged earlobes themselves. yes, unfortunately our earlobes do age as they stretch out and droop, getting folds and lines and a redundant, looseness of skin. As we get older, the earlobes appear to be more floppy, larger, longer and wrinkly. but an earlobe reduction is an easy fix, often incorporated as a part of a facelift or similar type of cosmetic facial rejuvenation procedure. a lobe reduction can also be performed in the office, with local anesthetic and absorbable stitches as well. Earrings look better in a smaller, younger, less droopy earlobe, too.

Did you know that ear piercings are also a common procedure at the plastic surgeon’s office? Why?

The exact spot on each earlobe can be selected for the best position for symmetry of earring placement. most people have slight differences in their earlobe shape and size as well as differences in ear position and size that are simply not taken into account at the piercing pit stop in the mall. your plastic surgeon uses local anesthetic so that whether young or old, that last second wincy-jerk reflex won’t throw the hole placement off-center

Keloids can develop in the earlobes after any kind of trauma, including ear piercing. Keloids are extra-thick, bulky scar tissue that can develop weeks, months and (rarely) even years later Keloids can be so large and bumpy that earrings can no longer be worn, not even clip-ons. they are embarrassing, very unsightly and are often also itchy and uncomfortable. these can be very challenging to treat as recurrence is a known risk with every treatment method available today. but office surgical reconstruction is fairly simple. once the scar tissue is removed using local anesthetic and a special steroid medication is injected into the earlobe, some very satisfying results can be achieved. Don’t worry – the steroid injection won’t have you posing anytime soon for Pumping Iron magazine This steroid stays in the earlobe only and works to limit scar growth, nothing more.

Reno Plastic Surgery Practice Now Offering Cellulite Reduction With Cellulaze(TM)

RENO, NV, May 23, 2012 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) –McCormack Plastic Surgery is announcing the addition of aninnovative cellulite treatment known as Cellulaze(TM). Recentlyapproved by the FDA, Dr. Tiffany McCormack says Cellulaze is thefirst procedure shown to significantly reduce the appearance ofcellulite with a single treatment session, adding that results insome studies were shown to last up to three years or more.

Approximately 90% of women are affected by dimples and bumps causedby cellulite as it settles around their hips, thighs, abdomen, andbuttocks. the Reno plastic surgeon says cellulite is often thought ofas a fat problem to be addressed with diet and exercise; however, sheis quick to tell her patients cellulite is often caused by factorsoutside of their control, such as genetics, skin thickness, thenatural aging process, or the body’s unique distribution of fat.

the innovative cellulite reduction treatment Cellulaze is designed toaddress these concerns by breaking down the structural makeup ofcellulite beneath the skin(1). After marking the targeted areas onthe patient’s body, and administering a local anesthetic, Dr.McCormack says Cellulaze works in three different ways:

— Levels out bumps of fat, also known as the “cottage cheese” appearance — Treats dimples by releasing fibrous bands pulling on the skin — Stimulates collagen production for improved skin depth and elasticity

at her Reno plastic surgery practice, Dr. McCormack says the minimallyinvasive procedure typically takes about 1.5 hours to complete. Mostpatients are able to resume their normal activities directlyfollowing the procedure, and any bruising that occurs should fadewithin days. She says results will be noticeable within four weeks, with continued improvement over the three months following theprocedure and lasting anywhere up to three years or more in somecases: “Cellulite plagues millions of women. until now, I have notseen effective results that are long lasting with any of the currenttreatment modalities, which is why making Cellulaze available to mypatients was extremely important to my team.”

Neck Lift Surgery: Procedural Steps

Facial Plastic Surgery, Neck Lift, Plastic Surgeon, Plastic Surgery, Wrinkle Removal Comments (0)

Skin and tissue laxity in the neck is a common part of the aging process, although people nowadays no longer have to endure this aesthetic problem with the introduction of a plastic surgery procedure called neck lift which can treat the excess, loose skin and “bands” caused by the bulging fats.

For younger patients whose usual problem is the neck “band,” liposuction may be effective as a standalone procedure in neck lift surgery.  this is performed by inserting a cannula, a very thin suctioning probe, to an incision made under the chin to remove the excess fats in the neck and jaw line.

According to plastic surgeons, younger individuals usually have a more elastic skin than older patients, which means that their skin can easily shrink and tighten on its own without any problem after the fatty deposits have been removed.

But for older individuals or those 50 years and above, neck lift is usually performed using an excision technique which may be combined with liposuction.  this is because their main problems are the loose, hanging skin and weakened muscle which can only be corrected with the use of incisions.

In this plastic surgery approach, doctors create two discreet incisions under or behind the ears in order to manipulate and remove the excess skin that is causing the sagginess, and another one that is placed under the chin that will allow them to reduce or reshape the weakened muscles.

But instead of creating three incisions, some plastic surgeons prefer to use internal sutures that can support the neck tissue and tighten the sagging skin.

After the necessary alterations are completed, doctors will close the incision sites using tissue glue or sutures and then wrap a pressure dressing around the top of the head to the chin that will support the new contour during the recovery.

As with any plastic surgery, neck lift is associated with certain risks and complications particularly on patients with serious health issues such poor healing, diabetes, and heart problems.  with this consideration, patients will undergo physical examinations and interviews that will determine their health status and overall candidacy for this procedure.

Aside from being physically fit, plastic surgeons also require their patients to perform certain procedures several weeks before the operation; these may include quitting smoking to promote better healing ability, avoiding herbal supplements and medications that contain ibuprofen and aspirin that can increase bleeding, and preparing all the things needed during their recovery.

Neck Lift Surgery: Procedural Steps

What’s The Cost Of Cosmetic Eye Surgery?

It’s simply a part of the aging process; sagging and unsightly bags under the eyes but the good news for those who want to regain a youthful look is the availability of cosmetic eye surgery.

The benefits of cosmetic eye surgery apart from regaining a fresh looking looking appearance is it can even improve vision, especially if someone’s vision is being hampered by loose around the eyes.

The question most will be asking is.can I afford it? It’s a good question because the cost of cosmetic eye surgery can appear to be excessive and for those working on a tight budget, the truth is, it just may be out of reach.

How Much Can you Expect To Pay?

This depends exclusively on the level of eye surgery. it can depend on whether you just have the upper eye lids treatedor the lower eye lids or both. Pricing can vary considerably from state-to-state.

A better guide would be to give you a total price range which could start as low as $1500-$2000 to well over $7000. do you need to pay $7000? That’s something only your doctor can determine. How much are you willing to sacrifice your finances for a procedure which could significantly enhance your appearance?

You could consider taking a step-by-step approach which could see you finance the upper eye lids on your first visit and when you can afford it, follow up with the lower eye lids.

Discuss Cost With your Doctor

This is extremely important. It’s easy to get carried away with the potential outcome of the procedure but be warned, unless you discuss the cost of cosmetic eye surgery with your doctor before you make a decision, you’ll probably want to be put under a general anesthetic when you get the bill.

It’s not just the surgeon who gets paid but also the anesthetist, the hospital and in some cases, the consultation procedure could set you back.

Also check whether your surgery is covered by insurance. it may very well not be because cosmetic eye surgery is considered an elective procedure under many plans.

Dr. Michael McCracken Appears on Denver T.V.

How to fix wrinkles, restore volume to the face and get rid of bags under the eyes is illustrated with the VECTRA, a new 3-D facial imaging system.

March 20, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ — Dr. Michael McCracken, a Denver area plastic surgeon recently appeared on Denver’s Ch. 9 Morning News to demonstrate the VECTRA, a new facial imaging system. the "VECTRA" simulates facial procedures, allowing patients to see the possible outcome of cosmetic procedures in advance. McCracken Eye and Face Institute is the first private medical facility to use the computerized device in Colorado.

In the Channel 9 segment, Dr. McCracken uses photos of some of the show’s anchors to illustrate how the aging process can affect their facial features over time, and more importantly what can be done to restore youthful qualities using non-surgical and surgical techniques. Dr. McCracken also shows before and after results of an actual patient’s cosmetic procedure.

The system instantly captures 3-D images of the face, which the Dr. uses to demonstrate procedure simulations to his patients in one office visit. the device has several settings that can visually demonstrate skin conditions and volume loss caused by age. Dr. McCracken can demonstrate how facial procedures, such as laser rejuvenation and dermal fillers, can be used to correct areas of concern, including under eye bags, sun damaged skin, loss of facial volume and more.

"With the VECTRA, I can simulate the results of laser resurfacing, adding volume with a facial filler and other facial procedures," says Dr. McCracken. "while the simulations are not meant to serve as a guarantee, the images can help my patients appreciate sun damage, facial descent due to gravity, volume loss and the ways facial procedures can correct these concerns by presenting them with realistic 3D images. With this new system I can show patients an estimate of a "before" and "after" before any procedures are actually performed."

"as more people become familiar with this technology, I believe there will be great interest in using computer imaging to simulate results before undergoing facial procedures," says Dr. McCracken.

Plastic Surgeons – How to Deal With Unsatisfactory Results

With millions of nose jobs and facelifts being performed each year it is no surprise that occasionally a patient will be so dissatisfied that they will seek a re-do. in fact, plastic surgeons have even started advertising their ability to right a wrongly done procedure.

It’s one thing if the appearance differs from what was expected, but can be quite another story if a patients’ health or well-being is affected, such as experiencing labored breathing following a nose job.

The core issue
Which patients are likely to be happy with the results? many doctors say those whose expectations are realistic and have researched the procedure are likely to be satisfied with it. Patients who expect little scarring and downtime are usually not satisfied.

Modern advertising has served to create unrealistic expectations. for example, a facelift can’t reverse the aging process, so eventually the results will disappear and a patient may feel the need for a touch up.

A professional plastic surgeon will be truthful about whether your desired results are attainable and you are a good candidate for a specific method.

For example, if you can’t get the nose job results you seek without it affecting your breathing, the doctor should be honest with you about that. they will also explain what they will do to address your custom needs and issues, rather than just performing the same procedure the same way. Reviewing a plastic surgeon’s before and after photos will give you a sense of what techniques they favor and what end results they seek to achieve.

Communication is key
It can be difficult for a patient to communicate exactly what they envision in their mind, particularly when dealing with such small changes like wanting to make their nose a little smaller.

You should choose a doctor who spends time questioning you and drawing out information regarding your feelings and needs. you should feel enough of a rapport with them that you are comfortable sharing personal insecurities and fears.

Identifying the right doctor
Seek out a doctor who has extensive experience performing the procedure you are in the market for. Not only that, but ask them questions about their continuing education and how they stay current on advances in that procedure.

When interviewing doctors, also request references so that you can talk with real patients about their experiences and how that plastic surgeon communicated and dealt with any problems after the initial surgery.
