Cheryl Cole Confirmed As Third Judge On American "X Factor"

It’s official, British pop singer and TV personality Cheryl Cole will serve as the third judge on Simon Cowell’s upcoming American version of his hit U.K. TV show, “the X Factor.”

After weeks of speculation, the confirmation came on Thursday that Cole will sit at the “X Factor” judges table alongside Cowell and former label boss Antonio “L.a.” Reid when the show takes to the air in the fall on Fox. though not well-known to American audiences, Cole has had a successful run over the past three years on the original British version of “X Factor” and was a member of the best-selling all-female group Girls Aloud.

She will join Cowell, Reid and an as-yet-unannounced fourth judge as they visit audition cities. “I’m thrilled for Cheryl. She is massively excited about this show, and has been fantastic to work with,” said Cowell in a statement announcing the hiring of Cole’s hire. “She is also a complete brat! Most importantly, this girl can spot talent.”

Cole, who has won repeated praised from Cowell for her work on the U.K. “Factor,” was equally chuffed about joining the American panel of the show, which will be open to singers of all ages, as well as groups, all competing for a $5 million recording contract with Cowell’s Sony Records imprint Syco Music.

“I’m so excited to be taking part in the American version of ‘the X Factor,’ ” Cole said in a statement. “I absolutely love it here in the U.K., and with the talent they have out in America, I’m sure we’re going to find someone very special. I can’t wait to get started. I just can’t decide whether I am more excited to find and nurture the talent or for the unbelievable amount of amusement and entertainment I will have watching Simon doing everything and anything he can to beat me. He’s tried to beat me for three years in the U.K., and hasn’t even come close. his ego must be so bruised. America is gonna love this.”

Cowell recently said he’d also love to have his old “American Idol” pal Paula Abdul on the “X Factor” panel with him, but that a deal to have her join the show had not yet been completed. Auditions for “X Factor” continue in Dallas on May 26, and special hi-def recording booths have been set up in Honolulu; Phoenix; Nashville; Denver; Anchorage, Alaska; and Kansas City, Kansas.

Myranda’s Rant: How Could I Have Been So Wrong?!?

Myranda: okay. this is really hard for me to say, but… I was wromushmush.

Imaginary person: What???

Myranda: I was wromushmush.

Imaginary person: You were WHAT???

Myranda: I was WRONG, okay?! I was wrong about not one, but two of my longtime loves:  the t.v. show, The Game and car maker, Toyota!

Back in January, I wrote on this blog that I didn’t understand why so many people were bashing my boo, The Game. Like a few past loves, the relationship went bad, and then two years ago, he just up and disappeared. But I was so happy when he came back this year! yes, he changed a little. New look. New house (BET). But I thought, “Hey, change is good!” well, I was wrong. Sometimes change ain’t good. It’s like he’s trying too hard to be funny now, and he’s way too flashy! and those new friends of his (Brit Brat, 106 & Park boy, etc.) are just wack! Honestly, I blame that new house. nothing good ever comes out of that house! Oh well. Last night, he left for vacation, but I’m hoping he’ll lose my number. We’re just not connecting anymore, so like he used to say to me: “Deuces!”   

Now, Toyota…

This sucka really broke my heart. I fell in love with Toyota Camry (his full name) in 2007. I used to see him around town, but that year he had plastic surgery…and suddenly looked good! He was always mr. Smooth, but this new body? Ooh wee! and the best part? He was just as attractive on the inside, as he was on the outside (aww). So, it wasn’t long before we became a couple. We were inseparable. Even when he did me wrong (the infamous recalls) and others told me I should leave, I still held on. That is, until about a month ago, when he stood me up in a snowstorm! The worst part? He knew I depended on him, so he threatened to leave unless I paid for him to get more work done (a new engine)! Man, I feel so used (no, seriously, the engine is used). and I’m stuck with this cat for at least another two years (damn prenup)! But trust me, as soon as those two years roll around, I’m kicking him to the curb! That’s right, loser. I’m “Moving Forward” without you!

Imaginary person: I told you so!

Myranda: Oh, shut up!
