Kris Jenner’s fiasco: Food allergy or lip filler?

Some plastic surgeons say it’s unlikely that Kris Jenner had a bad reaction to food when her top lip blew up in an episode of  ”Keeping up with the Kardashians” that aired on Sunday night. While food was cited as a possible culprit on the show, the doctors suspect lip injections gone awry.

Dr. Richard Chaffoo, who’s served as president of the San Diego Plastic Surgery Society and chief of plastic surgery at Scripps Memorial Hospital, says the reaction looks like it was caused by a lip filler because it was limited to a specific area.

“If you have an allergic reaction, for instance a reaction to a certain food, it is a more generalized reaction and you can develop swelling on the face and body,” he told In your Face. “In this photo, there seems to be swelling mostly in the upper lip. the size of the upper lip seems to be about triple the size of the lower lip. She may have possibly had a permanent filler put in, which can cause an intense reaction.”

Chaffoo’s response is similar to what other plastic surgeons told the website Hollywood Life.

“Kris’ reaction could absolutely be from a lip injection,” Dr. Ramtin Kassir told HL. ”The gel injectables like Restylane, Perlane, and Juvederm hold 1000x their weight in water so there’s swelling after the injection, but then it goes down.”

Celebrity-watching plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn suggested the reaction could have been an allergy to a substance in a lip filler, perhaps an anesthetic. And another doctor told the site that allergic reactions to food typically involve the lower lip and even the tongue.

But if it was a lip injection that inadvertently turned her into a cartoon, wouldn’t she just cop to it?  Kris Jenner isn’t exactly shy about getting plastic surgery, even documenting the moments before and after her facelift last season and airing them on the show.

Three Ways to Find a Plastic Surgeon

The use of informative websites to do homework on surgeons and narrow your search down is the most time and cost efficient way to locate a new doctor. There are three main types of websites that offer varying focuses of useful information about plastic surgeons of varying specialty areas and those who perform multiple types of surgeries for the face and body in their office. while on these websites you can become very informed about the surgeons as well as about your chosen surgical procedure and the industry by reading the articles written by doctors and trusted professionals. these sites are invaluable resource prior to heed their warning and use their advice in order to have the safe surgical procedure you want and each patient deserves.

The only thing these sites don’t do is list the reliable doctors by specialty. you can do that in your choice of the popular search engines but then there is no guarantee that those doctors are local, licensed anymore or certified. you could be staring at old information or click on a debunk website; will you look beyond the first results page to find your plastic surgeon? That’s right, your best bet is the safest and that’s what is known as a referral service through trusted surgeons organizations or industry websites like the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. this is where surgeons can register their basic information with a link to their website or will even connect you by phone if you are ready to set an initial consultation visit or just ask a few questions of the office.

On different websites you get different information. for example some can locate information about a doctor’s background such as education, locations of residency, training and state(s) of operating licensure as well as lawsuits and disciplinary actions for resolution. Other websites list their contact information and offer a link to their website where a list of their accomplishments, professional organizations and publications are listed. Either one of these sites can be useful to you depending on the type of education and experience of the plastic surgeon you are looking for, for your procedure. if their bedside manner is just as important, there are peer review sites as well. these sites if not standardized with questionnaire then they statements and ratings are preference based and can be unduly harsh. these comments can also be old and resolved since then, so you should approach these sites with caution. as long as you know what you are looking for, you can find what you are looking for.

Hollywood Stars: Before and After Plastic Surgeries

It is not easy to find a totally natural face and body on the red carpet nowadays because cosmetic surgery has become more and more popular. it is not only for the rich and famous, but also for the middle class. most of us think that famous people are more perfect and attractive than the average person. however, it seems that every Hollywood star has had a little work done and they look more gorgeous than us due to plastic surgery. the well-known stars such as Jennifer Aniston, Melanie Griffith, Megan Fox, Lil’ Kim, Joan Rivers and so on are rumored to go under the knife. Let’s have a look at the photos as follows to see what they look like before and after cosmetic surgery.

Jennifer Aniston

“The Break-Up” and “Friends” star Jennifer Aniston not only has one but two Nose Jobs. after the surgery, Aniston’s nose appears more beautiful with a narrower bridge.

Megan Fox

Megan Fox captures the heart of teenage boys everywhere, but not by her natural beauty. Many people believe that Megan Fox was actually a babe before and her new appearance is eye-catching.

Ellen DeGeneres

The face and eyelift of Ellen are nice. these things are enough to give her younger appearance. it doesn’t seem that Ellen has experienced a plastic surgery.

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz

There is no problem with Simpson’s old nose and also nothing wrong with her new nose. however, a small change make the star feel more confident.

Melanie Griffith

Melanie Griffith is rumored to have numerous plastic surgery procedures. nobody understands why the Hollywood star likes huge upper lip.

Lil’ Kim

It seems to be unnecessary for Lil’ Kim to completely re-carve her nose and cheeks. Her before face was much more beautiful although it was a little bit tweaked

Lisa Rinna

Rinna has turned her pretty smile into a painful-looking pucker. This is the bad results of multiple procedures.

Why People Have Plastic Surgery

Plastic surgery has become popular in recent years. It’s now a lucrative business because more and more people want to look beautiful and choose surgery as a way to make improvements in their face and body. Fortunately, there are experts like a plastic surgeon who are trained specifically in techniques that give patients natural and impressive results. there are quite a few reasons why people consider the option of plastic surgery. some are looking for a cure for their wrinkles while others consider it as a solution for ugly scars. still others were born with a feature that they can no longer bear to live with.

People refer to these types of surgeries as cosmetic or reconstructive surgery. Cosmetic surgery aims to improve the shapes and enhance the beauty of different body parts. the parts of a human body that can be improved with surgery include the face, chin, nose, eyelids, neck, arms, abdomen and thighs. moreover, the reconstructive surgeries are meant to improve the affected parts of a human body that are misshaped, or scarred due to some accident or injury. some injuries or burns can result in distorted features which can be rectified with these types of surgeries.

Accidental burns or injury scars can be superficial but they damage a person’s self confidence. therefore, this type of procedure is not just an improvement of features but also helps to restore ones self-esteem. Plastic surgery is not only meant for people who have imperfections due to accidents, injuries or severe birth defects, it also helps those who have natural flaws. some people don’t like their nose while others feel that their chin needs to be fixed. what doesn’t seem like a major flaw to someone might feel like one for someone else. For all sorts of imperfections, this is the cure. It restores confidence and makes them feel better about their appearance.

In the recent past, there has been much hype about celebrities getting work on their faces or bodies done. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that a lot of them have been a huge success. many celebrities receive huge fame afterwards. Results such as these have ordinary people convinced that they too can achieve this type of success. For most people, making the decision to have something corrected or changed has not come easily. They just want to look into the mirror and see a version of themselves that reflects what they feel on the inside. To look as young or as beautiful as they feel. They just want to be their most authentic selves.

These types of procedures can have some complications. A responsible doctor will always discuss the risks before anything is performed. always research any medical professional that you are considering hiring to perform any kind of procedure. Ask to speak to past patients and take a look at their certifications. Interview many different doctors and compare their results. in any case, it is the responsibility of the patient to determine if the benefits of having the surgery outweigh the risks.

Heidi Montag: Not even all her cosmetic surgery can hide her naturalness

By Georgina Littlejohn

Last updated at 12:29 PM on 15th February 2012

She spent tens of thousands of dollars on cosmetic surgery to make her face and body the picture of perfection.

But even Heidi Montag needs a splash of mascara or lip gloss just like the rest of us when we’re facing the world and the cameras.

The reality TV star was in Los Angeles yesterday looking very fresh-faced as she left a petrol station.

Fresh-faced: Heidi Montag tries to hide her blotchy and pale skin as she stepped out in LA yesterday

Her blonde hair was tied back from her make-up free face which sported a few blotches and looked a bit pale.

Although that might have been due to her baulking at the cameras as she and Pratt made their way back to their car.

She still managed to keep her bling going though as she flashed an expensive watch and diamond earrings.

Something to hide, Heidi? the reality TV star puts her hand up to her face as soon as she spots the cameras

Heidi is known for her love of plastic surgery which has tranformed her looks over the past couple of years.

She spent $30,000 on ten operations including breast implants which boosted them to DDDs, a brow lift, a nose job revision, liposuction on her stomach and thighs, a bottom  augmentation, her ears pinned back and her chin reduced.

Letting himself go: Heidi’s husband Spencer Pratt looked like he’d gained a few pounds, his protruding belly clear to see under his polo shirt

Quick, to the car! Heidi and Spencer looked like they were in a bit of hurry as they dashed past the cameras

She also claimed last week to have recently shed 27 pounds by spending  14 hours a day to transform her figure.

I’vebeen working out really hard because I had this pool party and I was like, I have to be in shape,’ she revealed to Us Magazine.

Spencer, 28, once a lean and fit young man, not only looked ten years older – despite his baby face – butalso looked like he hadn’t been to the gym for a while.

The $30,000 body: Heidi showed off the result of all her cosmetic surgery operations last summer

Wearing a light blue polo shirt, his protruding belly was clear to see underneath as he carried a couple of water bottles.

The couple have fallen from grace in the last year or so, after being among the biggest reality TVs tars in the States.

Spencer, 28, is now a studious undergraduate and has enrolled in a political science degree at the University of Southern California but she still very much has her finger on the Hollywood pulse and is still seen mingling with the celebrities at star-studded parties.

No Difference Between Cosmetic Surgery and Plastic Surgery

There is no difference between Cosmetic Surgery & Plastic Surgery. the difference is between Cosmetic/Plastic AND Reconstructive Surgery. a REAL Plastic Surgeon is trained in both. Reconstructive Surgery is the foundation for Cosmetic Surgery. a Plastic Surgeon cannot truly master Cosmetic Surgery without first understanding and learning Reconstructive Plastic Surgery.

A Real Plastic Surgeon, one who is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS), has extensive General Surgery Training prior to entering a formal Plastic Surgery Residency training program. This is critical for them to learn Reconstructive & Cosmetic Surgery of the face and body. a Plastic Surgeon’s foundation of Reconstructive Surgery is key for Cosmetic Surgery to reconstruct the signs of aging. it is this intense training background that makes their board Certification the crme-de-la-crme and the only one recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties.

When considering Cosmetic or Reconstructive Surgery, one can usually parse out the real Plastic Surgeons from the phony ones by how they title themselves. if they title themselves as cosmetic surgeons, this is usually a red flag and indicator they do not have the proper credentials for this specialty. This group of rogue plastic surgeons attempts to deceive the cosmetic consumer with word-play. They even go as far as to claim plastic surgeons are not trained in cosmetic surgery (insert laugh here). when in fact, they are exposing themselves as not legitimate for they do not have formal plastic surgery training at all. This group of rogue plastic surgeons are physicians of other medical backgrounds such as OBG-YN, Family Practice, ENT, Urology, Dermatology, and General Surgery.

They usually claim to be board certified, but hardly ever state the name of their board certification for obviously reasons: deception. if they claim to be board certified in an area of plastic or cosmetic surgery, it is because they have obtained an un-recognized board certification such as the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, which obviously does not require formal plastic surgery training as a qualification, or even require the physician have a surgical background at all. This group of rogue plastic/cosmetic surgeons treats Plastic Surgery with an anyone can do it mentality. This is why there are so many plastic surgery gone wrong stories plastered in our media. almost all of them are due to the physician not being board certified by the ABPS (such as Donda West’s fatal experience in Hollywood and the tragic outcome of Dr. Rey’s brother, performed Dr. Rey).
