Leighton Meester wins court battle against mother

No agreement … judge rules in Leighton Meester’s favour.

Leighton Meester has won a legal battle against her mother Constance Meester.

The 26-year-old Gossip Girl star filed a lawsuit last year claiming that her mum had stolen money that she had sent to take care of her younger brother.

Leighton wanted the $US7500 ($7,587) a month to go towards the boy’s expenses because he suffers from serious medical problems.

But Constance apparently spent the cash on getting plastic surgery, Botox and hair extensions.

TMZ.com claims that Constance tried to convince the judge that the money was hers to do what she wanted with because her famous daughter had promised to take care of her.

But the judge ruled that no such agreement was in place.

Leighton was not suing to get any of the money back but just to have her mother leave her alone.

The actress had a troubled upbringing and was born while her mother was serving time in federal prison for her involvement in an international drugs ring.

The victim compensation schemes prepared by Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh have not found favour with the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Observing that the schemes require improvement and refinement, the high court has also remarked that they require reconsideration and need to be based on certain rational principles and objective lines.

The bench further observed, last week, that in the facts and circumstances, the states have to be given broad principles by high court for determining or specifying the scales of compensation to be given to victims of various offences.

During the hearing of a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by advocate H C Arora, it was brought to the notice of the court that the scales of compensation provided by Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh differ to a great extent. In many cases, the compensation amount was

Victory lifts Badminton from dropzone

The Men’s Badminton 1sts got their league form back on track after a comprehensive 6 – 2 away win against fellow relegation contenders Manchester University 2nds.

The result never really looked in doubt and it was a much-needed win for UCLan.

Captain Adam Spence opted to change the partnerships in hope it would inspire his team to victory and it seemed to work. Mike Hubbard and new partner Graham Hollingsworth comfortably won their first doubles game 21 – 8, 21 – 5, whilst Adam Spence and Adam Rowan consolidated the good start with a 21 – 14, 21 – 15 win.

James Pickard and Jamie Allen were now UCLan’s singles players and they had two tough encounters. Firstly, Pickard lost 16 – 21, 18 – 21 after a hard-fought match; whilst Allen came from a game down to win in three games, 15 – 21, 21 – 18, 21 – 12.

As the matches turned around, Hubbard and Hollingsworth picked up where they left off dispatching their opponents 21 – 17, 21 – 17 in a slightly closer affair. Spence and Rowan also made it two out of two winning 21 – 14, 21 – 18. By this time, the score read 5 – 1 in favour of UCLan.

Pickard and Allen re-took to the court with nothing to lose. Pickard made up for his earlier defeat by winning in straight games. The first game went right down to the wire with the UCLan man prevailing 22 – 20 after some long rallies, but come the second game, Pickard had tired his opponent and managed to win easily 21 – 7. Allen, on the other hand, couldn’t get past the other Manchester singles player losing 15 – 21, 13 – 21, clearly suffering after a gruelling first match.

It didn’t matter though as UCLan ran out deserved winners, 6 – 2 the overall score. This result now lifts the side out of the relegation zone and captain Spence was all smiles at the end of the game:

“It was a good all round team performance and re-arranging the team seem to pay off.

“Hopefully this will put us back on winning form.”

UCLan next entertain Lancaster University at Foster Sports Centre on Wednesday where they will look to build on this impressive win.

It's said that Vanessa George will be given a new identity when she's eventually released from prison…?

Will this include plastic surgery because she has a face that you might encounter in nightmares. one that wouldn't be easily forgotten.

If I know anything about the way inmates feel about child molesters and paedophiles, her "plastic surgery/new face will be given her F.O.C by the other inmates eventually.
I can't see me leaving a dog with a woman like her after seeing her pic. the milk went sour in me tea.

I am hoping the other inmates will preform that plastic surgery themselves.
Its incredible how a persons appearance can change with a face peel of boiling sugar water and a hammer to the face.

They would be doing her a favour really—she couldn't look much worse than she does now

What's she done is awful.
Although it's seems unfair that she'll get a whole new identity, it won't be safe for her to live outside prison if she doesn't.
I'm sure some of you won't want her to be safe when she gets out.
In my opinion, she shouldn't be ever be let out…

THOMAS the picture we saw of her face was that of an Elephants @rse, and when she is released from prison after having plastic surgery on her face, she'll have the face of a Rhino's @****, if there's any justice that is.

Unfortunately the children she abused will not recognise her
and if her name is changed they will not be able to find her
and deliver their verdict. perhaps they might though!

Hopefully it will reflect her true "personality"- this would do!

It's disgusting if she gets a new identity. In my opinion criminals don't serve a long enough sentence and someone who abuses children should face society and the punishment thus meted out.

That's relevant Rage In Eden isn't it,how bloody huge she is. no doubt she will be released but she's yet to be sentenced.according to her she'll be out in 4 years.

No plastic surgeon on earth will be able to make this evil, fat ugly cow into anything resembling a half decent woman.

where exactly did the rubbish newspapers get this information from? they seem hell bent on inciting readers to buy into this sensationalism.

She should have plastic surgery BEFORE she goes to prison – don't you think the prisoners have suffered enough?

I'm not too sure we actually have seen her face. Maybe we have but I reckon the pictures we have seen is her harse!

She's no oil painting that's for sure. Bulldog chewing a wasp comes to mind.

Hahaha! She's HUGE! it would have to be one hell of an identity!
