The Bachelorette Recap: Who Made the Final Two?

If The Bachelorette star Emily Maynard felt that her decision to cut Chris loose after last week’s hometown dates was hard, this one was near impossible.

Things got even more serious, emotional and dramatic in Curacao as Emily went on very romantic dates with Arie Luyendyk, Jr., Sean Lowe and Jef Holm.

Three worthy candidates, only two roses in play. Who would she pick? and how would she handle the fantasy suite card situation, given that she’s a mom?

Follow this link for all The Bachelorette spoilers we know about the July 22 finale, then continue on for THG’s +/- recap of the penultimate episode!

Obligatory Curacao nature montage and recap of the final three guys and their “journey” with Emily so far. Minus 4 for the even-longer-than-average filler.

Emily has nice penmanship, even in sand. Plus 2.

Sean’s shoes match his blue shirt perfectly. what guy does that? Apparently Sean Lowe, Ames Brown and Pauly D. minus 5, in spite of the obvious effort.

Look at Sean, getting all flustered talking about his ex … and a little more unnerved trying to open up to Emily. Cute or a red flag? Hard to read. Even.

Time’s running out to go there, Sean. Minus 10.

His letter to Ricki made it dusty in here. Plus 25. Still holding something back, though. Just say it man. go on. Okay, that kind of counts for redemption.

Gotta love that the fantasy suite card is from Chris Harrison. Host-pimp sure knows how to take care of his ridiculously attractive employees. Plus 15.

Plus 20 for Emily calling it a night solo. Even after the hot tub makeout session no less. Girl’s priorities and commitment are pretty impressive.

Minus 5, because as awesome as Sean is, do they lack a spark? Is he too safe? Not exciting enough for Emily, who seems to like guys with an edge?

Jef Holm has vaulted from dark horse to full-on frontrunner status. “I’m so happy with where our relationship is right now.” what more can Emily say?

“I hope to be the second biggest part of Emily’s life.” – Jef. Smart guy. Plus 10. There’s a level of communication here that transcends Sean’s.

“The sun is setting here in Curacao, but for me and Emily, our whole life together is just beginning.” – Jef/Bachelorette staff writers. Groan. Minus 5.

Emily says she’d move to “wherever you are.” Woman certainly knows what she wants, and more and more, that appears to be Jef. Plus 9.

This is the most serious date in Bachelorette history. Why are you still single? would Ricki like me? Not leaving anything on the table, are we?

Jef quasi-rebuffs the Fantasy Suite invite before Emily can do it to him. Guy’s been playing hard to get from the get-go. Interesting tactic. Plus 7.

“There is a time and a place for everything, and now is the time to bridle these passions.” very mature move, but who talks like that? Minus 14.

“My connection with Arie was literally almost immediate.” – Emily. That makes literally almost no sense, but we totally get it, so Minus only 3.

“We always want to kiss each other, and it feels great.” – Arie. Well put. Minus 7.

Swimming with the dolphins looks awesome. but not as much as kissing, which is all they seem to do. All of his “top moments” involve kissing. Hey, they’re both good at it. Who wouldn’t want to make out with either of them? So Plus 11.

Ah, but back to reality … what does Arie Luyendyk, Jr. do on a Tuesday morning?! no one knows! Minus 10, because physical chemistry and dream dates will only carry you so far, even on The Bachelorette. Jef may have the edge as a result.

Arie sleeps until 9 and goes out to dinner every night? Not exactly stepfather stuff … but he does seem legitimately interested in Ricki, so Plus 7.

Emily makes Arie feel like a natural man. or something. Plus 3?

He’s SO good looking … Emily won’t give him the fantasy suite card because she doesn’t trust herself! The Bachelorette: Mom Edition definitely lacks the sleaze factor of past seasons. Plus 25, even if it’s sometimes less entertaining.

Fireside chat with Chris/filler time. Minus 8.

To paraphrase Chris from like every episode … this could be one of the hardest decisions in Bachelorette history. she seems genuinely interested in all three guys and unsure of who she’ll send home. break out the tissues early.

But she’s got great clothes. Plus 2.

Sean goes all in on his video message at least. will it be too little, too late against Jef and his usual eloquence, or Arie’s surprisingly moving profession of love? All of them collectively, combined with the circumstances, move her to tears. Plus 10.

Long speech. Longer pause. JEF. Even longer pause. ARIE. Poor Sean. That ranks among the saddest goodbyes in recent memory. Minus 20.

EPISODE TOTAL: +47. SEASON TOTAL: +171.

Did Emily Maynard make the right call sending home Sean Lowe?

Who do you think she should choose on The Bachelorette finale?

Doctors in Vietnam gave Hai less than a year to life. But his friends and family have reached out to renowned plastic surgeon Dr. McKay McKinnon of Chicago, who has successfully removed life-threatening tumors from patients around the world, to see if he can help save Hai.

Given the severity of Hai’s condition, he is unable to travel outside of Vietnam. as a result, Dr. McKinnon will make the journey to Ho Chi Minh City to perform a complicated surgery with a team he has never met before.

The surgery is the subject of TLC’s medical special, “the Man With the 200 Lb. Tumor,” which premieres Wednesday at 10 p.m. on TLC.

During the trying 12-hour surgery, McKinnon hopes that he can successfully sever the tumor as close as possible to its point of origin without cutting any of Hai’s vital organs.

Since blood is shared between the patient and the tumor, it puts Hai at risk for drastic shifts in body weight, as well as dangerous blood and fluid shifts during the procedure, which may require multiple blood transfusions.

“I’m happy, but worried,” said Hai in the special. “if the surgery’s successful, I can walk. if it isn’t…well, we all yearn to live.”

Flying After Surgery

Having a major operation can be physically and mentally demanding, and usually involves a long period of recovery depending on the operation in question. the post-op recovery period is an important part of the healing process and is vital for a return to full health.

After your operation, you’re likely to be briefed about your limits with regards to travel. Depending on the type of procedure you’ve had done, you will usually have a recovery period, within which it is usually advisable not to fly during this time. If you do need to travel within this recovery period, it is advisable to organise some travel insurance, in order to ensure that you will be covered should anything happen to you post-operation.

If your circumstances are such that you do need to travel by air after your operation, planning ahead is vital to ensure you have a safe and comfortable journey. Inform the airline of your intention to travel and of your situation, doing so in advance means that they can make any necessary changes and can accommodate any additional medical equipment or medication.

For most journeys you are likely to require medical clearance from your doctor, so it is important that you visit your doctor in order to get clearance before your travel, as a failure to do so could potentially invalidate any holiday insurance you might have taken out. It’s worth heeding the advice of your medical practitioner at this stage of your recovery, as any complications you may experience whilst you’re on holiday, or during transit to your destination, could have an impact on your injury, which is why it’s always best to double check your limits before you travel, and ensure that you take out some cheap travel insurance beforehand to give yourself a degree of protection.

Ensuring you take out a travel insurance policy before your journey can help to put your mind at ease, as should any reoccurrences of injury happen when you’re abroad and you require treatment, at least you’d have a degree of cover through your policy, but you must ensure that your cover is eligible for your destination, and also covers any activities you might have planned for your trip – although you’re more than likely not going to want to anything too strenuous after surgery.

And most importantly of all, if you don’t feel comfortable travelling, regardless of how long it’s been since your surgery, then it’s worth looking into rearranging for another time, as it’s better to take your time and stay healthy than jeopardise your recovery and make the situation worse by trying to do too much soon afterwards.

Plastic surgery is a journey that starts with a desire or concern that becomes a process from the consultation to the last bit of recovery after surgery. like all journeys, people have many different physical and emotional experiences that tell more than just what the final physical change has become. one can easily look at before and after photographs of any plastic surgery procedure and see a transformation, but it reveals nothing about what that specific patient experienced in reaching that point.

When one considers having an elective plastic surgery procedure, curiosity and concerns abound about every step of the process. this is particularly true in what the recovery will be like after surgery, whether they thought the result was worth the effort, and what they would or would not do again about any aspect of the surgery. while one can read the basic facts about an operation and the plastic surgeon can tell you most patients experience, it is still not the same as hearing it from an actual patient.

It is extremely common in my Indianapolis plastic surgery practice for a prospective patient to ask if they can speak to a patient who has had their procedure(s) of interest. while this is always arranged, it would be more convenient if a resource existed where one could read what many other patients have experienced.

The desire for a good experience resource is the genesis of My Plastic Surgery Story. we are interested in what you have experienced having gone through a plastic surgery procedure. if you are interested in sharing your experience, please submit your to me at info@eppleyplasticsurgery.com. in submitting your story there are certain guidelines that should be followed. they are as follows:

1)      There is no specific length or number of words that you can submit.

2)      Title your story by the procedure(s) that you had done. (e.g. My Facelift)

3)      Do not use your full name or geographic location unless you desire that information for all to see. Use only your first name and the state in which you live. (e,g. Joseph, Indiana)

4)      Do not identify the doctor who performed your procedure or the facility where it was performed. (if you do they will be deleted) The experience is what matters not the who or where.

5)      we are interested in all plastic surgery experiences, both good and those that are less so.  Be aware, however, this is not a publishing forum for negative rants or personal attacks. this is an educational forum to help prospective patients understand what the plastic surgery process is like from real experiences.

6)      we are particularly interested in hearing what drew you to consider plastic surgery, how you made the decision for the operations you had, what the recovery process was like and how plastic surgery has impacted your life afterwards.

7)      we would like to publish these experiences in an unedited fashion. they will, however, be reviewed prior to being put online so be certain you abide by our few rules. The decision to publish them will be determined by us and submission is not a guarantee that it will be posted.

8)   Be aware that having your story placed online will make it available to the world to see and read.

9)      By allowing us to post your experience, you are giving up any and all copyrights or ownership of your words or experience.

10)  Some of these stories may be followed by a short commentary by Dr. Eppley to help highlight key experience points in your submission.

Please help us make My Plastic Surgery Story a great experience resource for patients. we look forward to hearing your story!

In fact, the majority of patients earn somewhere around $50,000 yearly.

(Learn more about being a plastic surgery traveler in Beverly Hills and see a list of hotels and motels.)

You don’t have to be an Arab prince to stay in Beverly Hills!

But many potential — but distant — patents never ask Southern California plastic surgeons about their services. Why? Those patients assume too much travel is involved. Wouldn’t such a trip involve:

  • Coming here to see the doctor
  • Make an appointment for surgery
  • Return again for the surgery and once more for a final checkup appointment

Not at all! Modern communications reduces your travel to one trip. Here’s how:

We use all the latest in virtual consultations for cosmetic surgery consultations, using email, phone, Skype and the Internet.

For surgeons who offer such services, distant patients just send in their medical histories, including pictures of the area or areas you want surgically rejuvenated. We can then discuss your case over the phone, through email or on Skype.

Getting around Los Angeles area is easy — we send a town car to fetch you at the airport and then drive you to our office. Then, usually the day before surgery, we answer any remaining questions you may have. Plus, you already know the cost of the plastic surgery before leaving home.

(Look at some plastic surgery before and after pictures.)

Next stop: your plastic surgery.

If want plastic surgery in Beverly Hills, we offer a pre-surgical procedure to make sure you are healthy enough for any surgery. Here’s how it works:

  • We mail the appropriate forms for your own doctor
  • Usually, all that’s need:  a standard physical exam
  • The completed exam and some other paperwork is faxed to us 14 days before surgery
  • We can usually suggest a doctor close to you for physicals, if you don’t know one
  • Before you arrive, we give you a general idea how long you may stay in Beverly Hills or Los Angeles

  • Top restaurants

We also offer permanent, non-surgical rhinoplasty via a method offered only three or four other places in the United States.

Do You Have What It Takes to Become a Plastic Surgeon?

Being a plastic surgeon requires more than just having a strong desire to transform and redesign the way someone looks. There is a lot of schooling and hard work that is required before anyone can even begin to think about the kind of career they want to pursue as a cosmetic surgery specialist. If you have dreams and aspirations to become a surgeon, you are going to have to take a journey into the world of higher education.

For many, the dream doesn’t begin to take shape until the last year of high school or the first year of college. For others, the dream takes hold much later, usually during the sophomore and junior year of college. No matter when the dream of becoming a plastic surgeon starts calling your name, the way to the starting line is still the same.

After you have successfully completed high school and earned either a diploma or a GED, you have will want to find a good college to start your prerequisites at. Many students would simply choose to be a pre medical studies or pre-professional studies major for the first two years of university life. You can of course choose other majors to specialize in before you start your medical career, however you will need to make sure that you are incorporating certain science, math and chemistry classes into the rotation as well. during these two years, the grades you earn and extracurricular activities you participate in can make you a very favorable candidate for medical school.

Medical school is very competitive and very hard to get into. You are competing with students from all over the world and from many different walks of life. Applying and getting accepted into medical school so you can begin to learn the basics of medicine before you start your plastic surgeon education is considered a challenging process. You have to take and score very well on the MCAT, very well and thought provoking application essays and have very good grades in order for the Medical School Review Boards to even consider your application. If they determine that your application is something that stands out from the thousands they have looked over, they will invite you to have an interview.

Once you have successfully passed your interview and been offered a spot in matriculation, you will spend the next four years completing medical school and becoming a licensed medical doctor.

Once you have obtained your MD degree, you can now branch off into the specialty of medicine you wish; in this case it is the field of plastic surgery. To become a plastic surgeon, in addition to all of the schooling you have completed thus far, you will have to complete three years in a medical residency in general practice and then three years residency as a plastic surgeon. In some cases you can often complete your residency requirements within five to seven years.

Financing Your Liposuction With A Cosmetic Surgery Loan

When you look at having a cosmetic procedure done –one of the first things likely to cross your mind can be the cost, and the option of a plastic surgery loan. For many people, this is the most sensible option when figuring out how to pay for the cosmetic surgery that will likely change how they feel about themselves. But where can you go to find plastic surgery financing?

The answer starts before you decide on what procedure (or procedures) you want to have done in the first place. in today’s stretched economic climate, it can be very tempting to go for the cheapest plastic surgeon around – but before you jump in, make sure your chosen professional is indeed a professional! Even more importantly, make sure he or she has a good success rate and a good set of testimonials and before / after pictures, because botched plastic surgery can lead to additional cost in repair procedures.

If financing is going to be an essential part of your cosmetic surgery journey, the most effective thing to do can be to look for a clinic that offers financing solutions. sometimes the clinic itself will provide the finance, but more often than not the clinic will have an arrangement with a finance company such as Care Credit.there are several cosmetic surgery clinics that provide patients with this service now – and it makes sense, because it drives business toward them. that fact can be advantageous for you, since these clinics usually tend to be busier than others and therefore their surgeons can have plenty of experience.

The same rules apply for plastic surgery loans as for other loans. Look at interest rates, repayment options, fees and consider the monthly amount you can reasonably afford before signing on the dotted line. Don’t let your cosmetic surgery dream become a nightmare by taking out a loan with a 23% interest rate!

Loans make cosmetic surgeries accessible to far more people. From the famed ‘Mommy Makeover’ procedures to the cost of a tummy tuck, spreading the cost can allow you to have your body the way you want it without having to wait. after all, when it comes to liposuction or any other cosmetic surgery that will make you feel better about yourself, thereby increasing your self-confidence, the time is now!

So the next time you think of liposuction and cost, consider whether it might not be a good idea to consider a plastic surgery loan.
