Special bras for patients who have breast surgery.  And depending on the patient—each patient is different—we do some recommendations about massaging or other services that they offer in saps, especially massage and some machines that they use in the saps, actually. “and, of course, in every patient we do the recommendations—what to do, and what not to do—after the surgery.  that is common things that they have to do or go back to work.” Mexico Health facilitates low-cost, high-quality treatment across hospitals in Mexico.   Fill the estimate-request form on the right for more information on Precautions after Plastic Surgery, Mexico.

Skin Deep: The Psychology Behind Cosmetic surgery

Plastic surgery has experienced a boom of over 700% in the past years. more and more men and women have certainly recognized plastic surgery as a quick-fix method to achieve physical elegance. In today’s active, fast-paced way of life, many individuals merely don’t have the time to actually manage whatever part of their body they’re not completely satisfied with. rather, they rely on the so-called miracles of science for assistance.

Several of those who opted to undergo cosmetic surgery were driven to take extraordinary measures because of their obsession with youth. For them, continuing to be as young as feasible was the primary objective to be attained, regardless of the fee. Today, cosmetic surgery is also taken as a means for people with face aberrations to restore or improve their looks. In essence, it is a field of medicine dedicated to alleviating stress and anxiety affliction as well as psychological health and wellness complications created by regarded “imperfections” in the body. therefore, why just do most cosmetic surgery workplaces have an in-house psychologist?

The answer is deceptively simple, if one makes the effort to check out the attributes of the field. Cosmetic surgery could not show up to touch upon virtually any aspect of intellectual health and wellness aside from the evident effects on confidence, yet the fact begs to differ. Cosmetic surgery is carefully tied to a person’s psychology, particularly throughout the period just before the patient goes under the knife. the existence of a psychologist in the clinic of a cosmetic surgeon is due to the fact that when people ask for a cosmetic procedure, there is regularly an emotional cause behind it. This doesn’t mean that everybody who asks for a liposuction or breast augmentation has problems with their psychological health. instead, this indicates that the psycho therapist is there to assess whether the surgical treatment will gratify the person’s desire for improvement or if it is merely a symptom of a deeper issue.

Some folks may not take the possibility of mental health being linked to cosmetic surgery genuinely, yet people who have actually watched the outcome of body dismorphic condition beg to argue. For people who have real requirements on what cosmetic surgery can do for them, an improvement here and there is usually sufficient. however, some individuals have indeed become emotionally conditioned to see themselves as “imperfect” or “unsightly” regardless of their appearance. it is these folks that might wind up coming back to a cosmetic surgeon’s workplace again and again. it is these people that a resident psycho therapist has to identify prior to the treatment is agreed upon, to avoid further harm to the psychological wellness of the patient.

Psychologists are even there to review the causes behind an individual’s choice to undertake surgery, especially if the procedure is one that may make drastic changes. In most countries, an individual can only be allowed to undergo a gender reassignment surgery merely after a comprehensive and long emotional exam. For extreme treatments, it is frequently best that the physicians have an understanding of the various reasons why a person is requesting anything to be done. This is needed to prevent circumstances where the surgery did more damage to a person’s self-esteem and also intellectual health than good.

In cases where the surgical treatment is a lot more re-constructive than cosmetic, the psychologist might be called upon to assess the patient’s psychological health and readiness to revisit a normal life. Some folks who have indeed undergone great physical trauma that needs plastic surgery, may not be psychologically prepared to return to a regular life. it is difficult to ascertain whether having re-constructive surgery done may aid a person recuperate from the stress they have actually suffered, or it will merely make things more serious.

US medical tourists turned away by Zurich hospital for fear of lawsuits

Zurich University Hospital / Image via onkologie.usz.ch Sep 20, 2009

Zurich University Hospital has stopped treating North American “medical tourists”, fearing million-dollar claims from litigious patients if operations go wrong.

Hospitals in canton Valais have also adopted measures to protect themselves against visitors from the United States, Canada and Britain.

“The directive applies only to patients from [the US and Canada] who come to Zurich for elective [non-essential] health treatments,” Zurich University Hospital spokeswoman Petra Seeburger told swissinfo.ch.

“It is not because treatment is not financed; it is because of different legal systems.”

In a statement the hospital said it was “not prepared to risk astronomical damages or a massive increase in premiums”.

Seeburger emphasised that the restrictions only affected people not domiciled in Switzerland.

“Of the 170,000 patients Zurich University hospital treats annually, about 3,000 come from abroad and 30 are North Americans. these are mainly emergencies and would of course continue to be treated,” she said.

“Most patients choosing the Zurich University Hospital come from countries near Switzerland, the Middle East or Russia.”

Consent formsIn the southern canton of Valais medical tourists have to sign a “specific consent form” which states that the limits of responsibility are fixed in Swiss civil law.

Bernard Gruson from Geneva University Hospital says all patients have to sign a consent form, whether they are foreign or not.

Other Swiss hospitals aren’t so risk averse.

“As long as a patient is sufficiently insured or has paid a deposit, we’ll treat them,” was the response from university hospitals in Bern and Basel.

“We have a good liability insurance – including for foreign claims,” said Andreas Bitterlin from Basel University Hospital, which last year treated around a hundred North Americans as inpatients.

Health tourism pioneerSwitzerland has a long history of medical tourism, dating back to the 19th century when wealthy travellers came to “take the waters”.

In the early days healing mineral waters and fresh alpine air promised miracle cures for all kinds of diseases, notably tuberculosis.

Nowadays, private Swiss clinics advertise surgery in in-flight magazines while agencies specialising in organising medical treatment for foreigners offer a deluxe service covering everything from interpreters to visas.

People travel to Switzerland for a broad range of treatments and procedures, plastic surgery included. One well publicised patient was Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi who came to Switzerland for an eye operation two years ago. the late Saudi King Fahd also underwent medical treatment in Switzerland.

Discreet SwitzerlandThe health tourism sector is estimated to be worth SFr900 million ($870 million) a year as Switzerland’s reputation for healthcare excellence holds firm.

Nevertheless, experts believe Switzerland could still do more to attract wealthy foreigners looking for top class treatment.

A study on Switzerland’s potential in the area, carried out by Zurich-based think tank the Gottlieb Duttweiler Institute, highlighted complex cases requiring specialist treatment. Discreet Switzerland could also offer privacy to VIPs, it said.

A forecast by Deloitte Consulting published in August 2008 projected that medical tourism originating in the US could jump by a factor of ten over the next decade. An estimated 750,000 Americans went abroad for health care in 2007.

The growth in medical tourism has the potential to cost US healthcare providers billions of dollars in lost revenue, it said.

Choosing Which Type of Breast Implants

For women who are discontent with their current silhouette, breast implants may be one of the many plastic surgery options to consider. No matter what size your chest measures, various procedures can either increase or decrease your measurements. Plastic surgery has definitely opened up a world of new options for those looking to change their body’s shape and size.

Before you jump into this option though, there are several factors that you need to consider if you want to have your expectations met. what shapes would you prefer – rounded or teardrop? do you prefer a surface that’s smooth or textured? Would you like saline or silicone as the primary filler? and finally, what size is ideal in your mind?

It’s helpful if you have a tentative answer to all the above questions before your initial visit. you and your surgeon will discuss your expectations for your new breast implants. Don’t worry if you have no idea if your expectations are reasonable, your doctor will be able to let you know if the size you’ve chosen will be too cumbersome or the texture may not be the same as you think. Collaborating together will give you the most satisfying profile

Should I choose Saline or Silicone?

Saline has some major safety advantages over silicone. for instance, the salt water solution that makes up the saline can easily be reabsorbed into the body should the implant rupture. You’ll also know immediately once it ruptures since the solution will exit immediately. Also, size can be adjusted even after surgery is complete. the salt water volume can be adjusted by adding more or draining once the shell is inserted.

The only major disadvantage found with a saline-filled shell is the ripple effect which the liquid solution causes underneath the skin. often, this option will be inserted below the chest muscles in an effort to minimize the visibility of rippling water.

Since silicone is a thick gel-like substance, the breast implants appear to be much firmer than their liquid counterparts. in fact, this option is often recommended for women who have thin body builds or for those who are having their chest reconstructed after surgery.

In the event of rupture, a silicone-filled shell will not deflate immediately. in fact it may take years for the woman and her doctor to realize the shell has ruptured. At one point, the FDA banned silicone from being used since it was causing health problems after rupture. the formula has been updated and is considered safe by the FDA, but doctors still require regular mammograms in order to determine if the breast implants are still intact.

First Steps to Surgery

You’ll want to consult with your doctor about the options you’re considering. He can refer you to a certified plastic surgeon. you may want to get a couple different names and interview a few before you choose one. you definitely should be comfortable with the surgeon who will be altering your body At your consultation visit, you can talk about what you’d like done and ask to see pictures of his previous work.

What You Need to Know About Arm Liposuction

Arm liposuction is a popular cosmetic surgery procedure designed to remove excess fat from your upper arms. this article tells you what you need to know about arm liposuction so that you don’t feel anxious if you decide to go in for the procedure. The surgery can help you achieve slim and well-contoured arms that are proportionate with the rest of the body.

Arm Liposuction Surgery – Are you a Good Candidate?

This procedure is suitable for you if you are not more than 11 kilos overweight and have flab in the upper arms which did not respond to exercise or serious dieting measures. however, it’s important that you have reasonable expectations as to the outcome of the surgery. Even if you feel that you are a candidate for the procedure, ultimately, only your plastic surgeon can ascertain this. there could be contraindications and the surgeon will first examine you to determine whether any are applicable in your case.

Contraindications for the Procedure

Some people cannot have upper arm liposuction done because of contraindications they may have. You may not be a proper candidate for upper arm liposuction if you had extensive surgery for breast cancer or s radical mastectomy. Allergy, heart disease, diabetes, bleeding disorders, clotting disorders and lung disease are some conditions that can be contraindications for the surgery.

What Happens during the Procedure?

After the administration of anesthesia, a cannula with a minute diameter is introduced through one or two incisions in the skin. The cannula is used to break up the fatty cells. The ruptured fat is then extracted through suction. You may have to do an additional procedure called an arm tuck to tighten any loose, inelastic skin that fails to shrink back to the suitable level.

The usual duration of the procedure is one to two hours. however, if you are going in for an additional procedure such as breast enhancement or liposuction on other body areas, the time taken would be longer.

An advanced and highly popular liposuction technique now available involves the use of a cannula with a laser-enabled fiber to destroy the fat cells. One example is Smartlipo™ using the Smartlipo Triplex™ workstation. this FDA-approved laser liposuction technique is very effective, precise and safe, and offers remarkable skin tightening capabilities. it also limits scarring making it a more favorable option than the traditional technique.

Procedural and Additional Costs

All plastic surgery is expensive. however, financing options are available and you can get information about this from your plastic surgeon. Various factors have a bearing on cost.

* The kind of anesthesia used (general anesthesia costs more)
* The location of the fat
* Quantity of fat that has to be removed
* Geographical location of the surgical facility

In addition to the cost of the procedure, you would have to pay for things like surgical garments, medical tests, prescription drugs, and other miscellaneous expenses.

The right Plastic Surgeon for the best Results

If you want the best results for your arm liposuction, choose your surgeon wisely. find a specialist with a good reputation and who can refer you to patients he or she has successfully treated. make sure you are comfortable with the physician and in the environment in which the surgery will be performed. a reliable surgeon will tell you all that you need to know about arm liposuction and help you make an informed decision.

Expert Plastic Surgery Channel contributor and Dallas Plastic Surgeon Dr. William P. Adams Jr. discusses breast augmentation recovery and  rapid 24 hour recovery breast augmentation.

Selecting a plastic surgeon for breast augmentation involves many factors including recovery following the procedure.  Dr. Adams believes the recovery post-surgery is one of the most important factors correlating to the quality of  the procedure.  Dr. Adams has given  presentations on the  national  level on this topic as well.

Post-operative pain can be a major factor for patients undergoing breast augmentation. In Dr. Adams recent published study over 98% of patients were able to go shopping the day of  surgery, go out to dinner the same night and back to normal activities within 24 hours.

These measures allow Dr. Adams’ patients a very quick recovery from  breast augmentation with minimal post-operative pain.   you will be encouraged to use your hands and arms normally including washing and styling your hair and raising your arms over your head the same day of the procedure.

Dr. Adams has found the specific surgical techniques allowing this rapid recovery as the single biggest advance in the procedure and a major benefit to his breast augmentation patients. Patient references may be given to you during your consultation if desired.

Rapid 24 hour Recovery breast augmentation allows patients to  goshopping and out to eat the day of surgery, take only Motrin, and back to normal activities and work IMMEDIATELY.

More men getting cosmetic surgery, study says

(CBS News)

How does he look so young? It’s no longer a secret. A new study by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons indicates more men than ever are having cosmetic procedures, looking for an edge over the inevitable aging process.

National Correspondent Ben Tracy takes a closer look at the different measures men take to try and regain their youth.

Fighting the ravages of father time, cosmetic surgery was once mainly the territory of the rich, famous, and female. but not anymore, men are now going under the knife, wanting to look as good as they feel.

For many, turning back the clock is not just more popular, it’s imperative. looking younger can mean lasting longer in the work force.

“Ten years ago I would say my surgical practice was comprised of 10 percent men. I say today it’s upwards of 30-40 percent,” says plastic surgeon, Dr. Jason Diamond.

Baby boomer, David Matlock, is having injectible fillers on this day.

“Look at business, you have to look young, healthy. that can mean your job,” Matlock points out.

He’s already had his eyelids, chin and neck tightened.

“I really want to maintain that youth, I look at that, I chase that,” he admitted.

Sixty-five year old Helgar Pedrini had the bags under his eyes removed and is having his upper lids lifted. He’s hoping a more youthful appearance will boost business.

“People look at you and say well, he might be right for the job, but he looks a little older, so I don’t know if he has the energy,” Pedrini says.

And psychologist David Swanson says there is a connection between looks and success.

“It’s been cited in a number of studies that men who are taller, men who are more attractive, tend to be more successful in the dating world and in the workplace,” Swanson noteed. “Which is why a lot of them, I think, turn to plastic surgery as an alternative.”

As boomers fight to survive in the boardroom, facelifts have gone up 14 percent in men. Among the most popular procedures: pinning ears back, liposuction, eyelid surgery and getting leg veins removed.

It’s all in an effort to boost self-esteem, and that’s powerful medicine.

“I see everyone from construction workers and students and teachers, and athletes. I’m seeing it all now,” Diamond added.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, in 2010, 1.1 million men opted for cosmetic procedures.

“It refreshes your image in front of other people,” Pedrini adds. “Your like a younger, better-looking person.”

Along with erasing wrinkles, the stigma of admitting you’ve had cosmetic surgery is also fading away.

“I’m not embarrassed about it. And I’m open with the procedures. People will look at you and say, ‘you look fantastic.’ I hear that all the time, it makes you feel good,” Matlock says.

Would you go under the knife to keep up with the younger, wrinkle-free competition?

Dr. Jeff Gardere, clinical psychologist and HealthGuru.com contributor, takes a stab at why so many men are jumping on the cosmetic surgery bandwagon.

Is Costa Rica Really the Happiest Nation on Earth?

Perhaps. But perhaps not. Nicholas Kristof’s recent Times Op-Ed set out to explain why Costa Rica is “the happiest nation on earth.” this led my happiness coauthor Betsey Stevenson and me to explore further (which is why we are writing this post together). Kristof claims that:

There are several ways of measuring happiness in countries, all inexact, but this pearl of Central America does stunningly well by whatever system is used. For example, the World Database of Happiness, compiled by a Dutch sociologist on the basis of answers to surveys by Gallup and others, lists Costa Rica in the top spot out of 148 nations.

That’s because Costa Ricans, asked to rate their own happiness on a 10-point scale, average 8.5. Denmark is next at 8.3, the United States ranks 20th at 7.4, and Togo and Tanzania bring up the caboose at 2.6.

The ultimate source of these data is the Gallup World Poll, which we’ve analyzed in our previous research. It’s worth remembering that there are several measures of well-being in the Gallup data. the numbers Kristof cites come from responses to the question: “all things considered, how satisfied are you with your life as a whole these days? use a 0 to 10 scale, where 0 is dissatisfied and 10 is satisfied.”

It’s probably worth being clear that what he’s measuring is life satisfaction, which may be very different from the point he’s making, which is about happiness. In fact, none of the major cross-national studies have ever measured the happiness of Costa Ricans. But they have measured some aspects of their subjective well-being.

More to the point, the well-being question that the Gallup folks tend to emphasize comes from the Cantril Self-Anchoring Striving Scale, which asks: “Please imagine a ladder with steps numbered from 0 at the bottom to 10 at the top. Suppose we say that the top of the ladder represents the best possible life for you, and the bottom of the ladder represents the worst possible life for you. on which step of the ladder would you say you personally feel you stand at this time, assuming that the higher the step the better you feel about your life, and the lower the step the worse you feel about it? which step comes closest to the way you feel?”

On this measure, there’s nothing particularly notable about Costa Rica. she comes in equal 19th in the well-being tables — equal with Panama and Iceland, and just above Mexico.

As the chart below shows, typically these two measures are highly correlated. what is particularly striking is that Latin American countries (shown in red) tend to do a lot better on the question that Kristof emphasizes, rather than on the question the Gallup folks emphasize.

We can’t explain these differences, and we don’t even have a strong theory as to which is the better measure. before we can declare Costa Rica the winner in the happiness stakes, we need further evidence.

One way to think about whether this is a robust finding is to look to other measures. Kristof tries this, reporting on two others:

Scholars also calculate happiness by determining “happy life years.” this figure results from merging average self-reported happiness, as above, with life expectancy. Using this system, Costa Rica again easily tops the list.

A third approach is the “happy planet index,” devised by the New Economics Foundation, a liberal think tank. this combines happiness and longevity but adjusts for environmental impact — such as the carbon that countries spew.

Here again, Costa Rica wins the day, for achieving contentment and longevity in an environmentally sustainable way.

Unfortunately these are not actually independent alternatives; they are simply the same life satisfaction number, but with extra adjustments made. Had they made these adjustments to the Cantril Ladder score instead, the conclusions would be far less favorable for Costa Rica than the numbers Kristof cites.

To know that a finding is robust, we would like to see similar results in another survey. so we dug a bit further to see what we could learn about Costa Rica. there are a few other major cross-national data sets measuring happiness, but unfortunately Costa Rica never features in the World Values Survey, the International Social Survey Programme, the Pew Global Attitudes Project, or our own database of historical happiness studies. at this point, it’s tempting to conclude that the most distinctive thing about happiness in Costa Rica is simply how few surveys have actually measured the happiness of Costa Ricans.

That said, there’s one useful source: the LatinBarometer measures life satisfaction in 18 Latin American countries. Typically, Costa Rica ranks in the top handful of Latin American countries. In 2006 — the latest year for which data are freely available — Costa Rica was the 4th most satisfied out of these 18 nations, behind Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, and Panama. In earlier years, it has been a bit higher — and it’s typically near the top — among Latin American nations. this is consistent with Gallup’s measurements using the Cantril Scale, which puts Costa Rica (along with Panama and Venezuela) atop the Latin American well-being tables.

While Costa Rica ranks near the top in the LatinBarometer, Latin American countries rarely rank in the top handful in the big international studies — except on the life-satisfaction question. Latin America is remarkably happy given its poverty, but it is rarely found to be as happy as the rich OECD countries (and particularly the Nordic nations) which are always near the top of the table, no matter what the specifics of the question asked.

Kristof may be right that there is something useful to learn from the relative success of Costa Rica. But let’s not lose sight of the fact that economic development is overwhelmingly the strongest explanator of which countries top the happiness tables.

(This post was written jointly with Betsey Stevenson.)

Stripper Wages – How Much Money Do Strippers Make? · Tax Attorney

I get asked all the time, “how much money do strippers make?” well, it varies from a good night to a bad night, but suppose a stripper only averages $200/shift and she works 4x a week. that is $800/week or $40k per year. If she works 5x a week that is $1000/week or $50k per year. When I first posted this article in the fall of 2007, most of the strippers I knew were averaging $500/shift, working 4 shifts a week, which translated to a 6 figure business.

Some strippers are still making that kind of money (the ones who have taken a stripper sales training course certainly are!) however most of the exotic dancer I know have taken a 20% or more hit to their profits due to the slowing economy.

I spent a good 2 hours researching the Bell Curve Statistics of Professional salaries. If you are not a statistician, let me explain. in this case the bell curve measures the distribution of salaries from the lowest 10th percentile, the middle 50th percentile, and the highest 90th percentile. the bell curve measures data more accurately than an average does. the average is a poor measurement of data because one very high or one very low number can completely skew your average. (Snooze, snooze….I was a math teacher remember???)

All Figures are given in Thousands of Dollars except M means Million.

Baseball Players

Minor League 10 18 25

I included baseball players because it cracks me up how these Minor League guys waltz into the Strip Club during Spring Training. they love to tell the doorstaff that they should get in for free because they’re baseball players, and they think the girls should give them free dances because they’re baseball players. the new girls eat it up because they think they’re sitting on the lap of the next Derek Jeter. Uh….nope….homeboy is only making $2500 a month!! Also notice that even though the newspapers report that the average baseball salary is 2 million, most of that money is going to the top players like Bonds, Jeter, Sosa, etc. the majority of the guys in the league are pulling $385K. Not too shabby…but a far cry from the “average” 2 million.

What I found most depressing was the salaries for higher education. everyone knows public school teachers don’t make much money…but university professors aren’t far behind. look at the salary range for University Deans! These are some of the brightest minds in the world…and they’re not making much more than a stripper?

It drives home the fact that EDUCATION does not equal MONEY anymore. I wish I could change that equation but I can not. Going to school, getting an advanced degree does not guarantee you a safe job with a pension, as many college grads are now finding out.

I am not saying that stripping is the solution for every attractive woman. however, if you are considering becoming a stripper or want to make more money stripping, a sales training course can help.
