Sarah Burge, also known as a “The Human Barbie” shocked parents around the world when she recently admitted to giving her seven year old daughter a birthday gift of a voucher for plastic surgery, to be used when she is ready for a breast augmentation. over the recent holidays, Sarah once again horrified the world when she gave her daughter a liposuction voucher for Christmas. Maybe a pony was just too much?
51-year-old Sarah Burge has spent over $800,000 on her own surgical enhancements over twenty years, which include three facelifts, liposuction on seven different parts of her body, two nose jobs and breast augmentation.
Despite spending a lot of time undergoing breast augmentation recovery and plastic surgery recovery, Sarah seems to continue to want plastic surgery and has passed her favorite pastime on to her daughter.
The Human Barbie gave another plastic surgery voucher for the recent holidays, in the form of a promise for liposuction.
“She asks for surgery all the time. She wants to look good and lipo is one of those procedures that will always come in handy,” 51-year-old Sarah Burge told the UK’s Daily Mail. “I see these vouchers as investing in her future, like saving money for her education.”
Miami plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Salzhauer says, “This is absurd and obviously for PR. A board certified plastic surgeon would never consider doing plastic surgery on child. This is the wrong message to send any young person who is just figuring out their identity.”
“I looked in the mirror and screamed,” said Laura Summers the morning after a quicky lip injection. “All I could see was a monster looking back at me.”
Summers, 27, was working as a model at a trade fair, when she heard a promoter from another stall say that they were offering on-the-spot lip fillers, reports the British tabloid, the Sun. Summers was no stranger to plastic surgery; four boob jobs, one breast reduction, two nose jobs, two ear pinnings, six rounds of facial filling, six botox jabs, and three injections of collagen had cost her 46,500 pounds ($72,935), landed her in serious debt, and earned her the tabloid title of Britain’s vainest woman. she loved it.
“They said they were licensed and legitimate,” says Summers, “so I thought, ‘Why not?’ “
but this was no casual face primping. the procedure took only a few minutes and cost just 200 pounds, but soon Summers felt dizzy and couldn’t feel her lips. when the numbness spread to her whole face, she went back to the stall where she’d had the procedure, but they’d packed up shop.
“It was then I felt I’d been well and truly conned,” says Summers. “They were just have-a-go sharks.”
Summers went home, and when she awoke the next morning, her lips were four times their normal size. she rushed to the hospital, but doctors didn’t know what to do; they had no idea what had been put in her lips.
when Summers finally found the number of the firm that performed the injection, she was told over the phone that “these things happen,” reports the Sun, and that it had gone out of business. it took a round of antibiotics and several months for her lips to begin to shrink down. more than 20 months later, Summers is now speaking out against rogue cosmetic companies.
“I thought for a while I might be scarred for life or I could have even got an infection and died,” she told the Sun.
Unlicensed plastic surgeons have mutilated the flesh of thousands of victims, and cost several their lives. Last week, Padge Victoria Windslowe was arrested on a third-degree murder charge, after allegedly administering an illegal and fatal silicone injection in a 20-year-old woman’s buttocks in February 2011. the Philadelphia woman was arrested after allegedly giving a similar injection at a “pumping party,” which caused a woman to suffer symptoms of heart failure as the substance traveled through her bloodstream and into her lungs.
In Florida, Oneal Morris was arrested last week as well, and charged with the death of a woman whose buttocks, hips, thighs and breasts were pumped with an unknown substance. the victim had told friends that the regions became hard, hot and black, and she subsequently suffered “massive systemic silicone migration,” according to a medical examiner, and died. Other clients of Morris were allegedly pumped with a cocktail of cement, super glue, and Fix-A-Flat tire sealant by the South Florida woman.
In February, the police arrested Carmel Foster, who allegedly performed multiple breast augmentation surgeries with an unidentified substance in the back of her Tyler, Texas, hair salon. one of her clients was left in critical condition, according to a local officer.
as cosmetic surgery has become more common, some who seek it are treating it more casually — happy to find a practitioner who will charge less than a $1,000 for a procedure that usually costs many times that. but cosmetic surgery is surgery, and cosmetic surgeons must legally be a medical doctor or a doctor of osteopathy, and have completed four years of medical school, in addition to a two- to six-year residency.
but even doctors with these qualifications might not be trained in plastic surgery. a surge in the popularity of these kinds of operations has led to “practice drift,” reports USA Today, in which doctors move outside their normal specialities into cosmetic tweaking as a way to pump up profits. At the end of last year, only 11 states had statutes specifying that doctors have to be competent in all the procedures that they perform. In more than half of states, a surgery facility doesn’t have to be licensed, and so may not have emergency drugs and equipment on hand.
Accreditation boards, like the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, can provide some assurance to patients who are looking for a surgeon who meets strict requirements for training and safety. so before you let a person inject something into your body, it’s probably worth checking out the credentials.
“I played Russian roulette with my health and my looks,” said Summers, whose lips still haven’t fully returned to normal, “and I will never do it again.”

One clue: a photo, top right, tweeted by her sister Kyle Richards from a July 4th family outing. US Weekly says the plastic surgery was part of the shooting for the show’s upcoming season.
The bump on the bridge of her nose “had always been bothering her and she finally decided to do something about it,” Wetpaint.com quotes a source as saying in a post titled, “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Star Kim Richards gets a Nose Job!” the procedure apparently took place ”a few weeks ago.” Kim Richards debuted her new look, the website was told, at Kyle Richards’ annual “white party” at the end of June.
Wetpaint’s story says the surgery was not performed by Dr. Paul Nassif, a plastic surgeon married to cast member Adrienne Maloof and seen frequently on the show.
It’s common practice to finance what you can’t afford to pay for out of pocket. for example, if you need to buy a house or a car or go to school, you can take out a loan. People are used to financing what they need or what they want. But plastic surgery is a little different. Though financing options can make procedures more affordable, is it really wise to take out a loan and pay interest on a procedure?
Many plastic surgery procedures simply have not qualified as medically necessary and thus have not been covered by insurance. Patients who need or want a particular cosmetic procedure do not always have the funds saved up to pay for a particular surgery up front. the average cost of breast enlargement rings in around $4,000 and nose jobs around $4,500. Facelifts are even more expensive at around $6,500 and that doesn’t even take the cost of the facility or anesthesia into consideration. But how do you decide?
Evaluating your unique situation is important. Patients who have recently lost a lot of weight may be carrying around excess sagging skin which can impede the process of losing even more weight by making exercise virtually impossible. A procedure to remove excess skin from the arms or the belly may cost thousands of dollars, plus thousands more in interest over time, but the health benefits of having the excess skin removed can result in significant healthcare savings over time. Not only will healthcare cost less, but patients who have had the extra skin removed after excessive weight loss feel better physically and emotionally which contributes to their quality of life. Financing surgery for this sort of situation makes sense because the benefits far outweigh the costs.
In contrast, if you’re financially strapped, but have always wanted breast augmentation surgery, getting financing to make it happen may be unwise. Paying more each month for the surgery could be financially devastating and even make it hard to really appreciate the results of a successful breast augmentation surgery. On the other hand, if you’re a recently divorced woman who breast fed four babies and you have sagging breasts as a result, getting a breast lift may make a big difference in your self-esteem and help you turn your life around.
Determining whether financing is wise or not is a personal decision. Every situation is different. Sometimes having another bill hanging over your head will only make you more unhappy. in other situations, plastic surgery may be necessary in order for you to move on with your life. Take the time to evaluate whether financing is really a good option for you by thinking about how making monthly payments might affect your ability to survive and thrive before going ahead with a procedure. Although one of Richards' co-stars, Adrienne Maloof, is married to a plastic surgeon, he did not perform the procedure. According to the source, the surgery was more of a "small tweak" than a major reconstruction.

Plastic surgery encompasses a wide variety of procedures for the face and body. From nose jobs to breast implants, we perform a broad scope of body changes. while the vast majority of these procedures do very well and patients have an uncomplicated after surgery course, some patients will experience complications. the occurrence of complications in plastic surgery, of the minor variety, are not rare. Major complications, fortunately, are very rare.
Interestingly, there is a vast difference in the occurrence rate and types of complications between plastic surgery of the face and that of the body. while patients understandably place a greater emphasis on procedures done to their face, the actual rate of significant complications from facial surgery is quite low. There are several reasons for this that include; the tremendous blood supply to facial tissues which is quite resistant to infection and allows most wounds to heal quite quickly (including the clearing of bruising and swelling), cosmetic surgery of the face is really ‘superficial’ surgery and does not enter any major body cavities or cause major pain and surgery on the face does not disrupt the body’s physiologic functions (like temperature control and fluid shifts) like body plastic surgery does. For these reasons, facial surgery procedures do not pose the same systemic risks as body surgery such as deep vein thromboses, pulmonary embolisms, and infection. most complications in the face, short of bleeding and hematomas, are mainly about appearance, symmetry, and scarring. not that these are not significant, but they rarely are life-threatening or invoke major medical problems.
Body plastic surgery, conversely, carries with it bigger risks in my opinion. First, body surgery is ‘bigger’ and involves more surface area of the body than the face. whether it be liposuction or a tummy tuck, large body areas are being opened or manipulated. As a result, the issues of blood loss, adverse temperature changes, and fluid shifts are real potential issues and expose the patient to greater medical risks such as fluid collections (seromas) and blood clots. Second, the blood supply below the neck to any one body part is not as great as any part of the face. Therefore, infection rates for body surgery are definitely greater than that of the face. while patients are more tolerant to small differences or asymmetries on the body as opposed to the face, the chances of more significant differences is also likely because the surgery site is much bigger and the changes being made are bigger. no where are these issues more evident than in bariatric plastic surgery, the extreme end of body surgery, where big skin cutouts, long incisions, and extended operating times test the ability of any patient to heal in an uncomplicated manner.
Potential complications are part of any form of plastic surgery and fortunately most are relatively minor and are often just a bump (aggravating as that is) along the way of recovery. however, body surgery is associated with longer recoveries (for many of the procedures) and higher rates of complications such as wound dehiscences, seromas, and asymmetry between body parts. This is in contrast to cosmetic surgery of the face where the surgical sites by comparison are smaller and healing is much quicker and less complicated.
A plastic surgeon may specialize in different aspects or areas of the human body. due to the many different areas that can undergo surgery, the doctor is likely to have various kinds of procedures to master and offer to his patients. there are no specific procedures that focus mainly on men or on women exclusively. Most of the procedures can be done to both genders as long as the conditions are right. the preference to focus on one gender is entirely up to the medical practitioner. there is very little difference between the operations for males and females and most of the differences are based on the physical structure of each gender.

What makes Jennifer Aniston nose job stands out among other nose jobs? Simply, the final result is the thing determining the final judgement of rhinoplasty. unfortunately, some people especially Hollywood stars tend to be unrealistic in setting their goals which eventually make them end up with plastic disaster. in most cases, it is overdone such as in Michael Jackson’s case. Fortunately, Jen is clever enough to stay out from such disaster and her clever decision has brought her to better nose shape which successfully makes her more beautiful.
A nose job can be great as long as it is done based on realistically artistic goal by the best surgeon. And it clearly appears that Jennifer Aniston had done that without a doubt. Another person I believe making the same clever decision like Jen was Ashlee Simpson. in Jen’s case, her problem was her deviated septum which was caused by broken nose in high school while in Ashlee’s case, it was her nasal bridge that was just too big for her face profile. though they came in with different problem but they came out with the same result which I think was excellent. Their two new nose profiles beautifully matches their profile. so, I would never wish Jennifer Aniston nose job to be undone.

Therefore, about 7 years later she decided to get another nose job to correct the result of the initial surgery.
