Austin, Texas Plastic Surgery Practice Advises Patients on the Importance of Selecting a Board-Certified Surgeon

Austin, Texas Plastic Surgery Practice Advises Patients on the Importance of Selecting a Board-Certified Surgeon

Austin, Texas (Vocus) February 2, 2010

for people interested in plastic surgery in Austin, a quick search on the Internet reveals many different practices offering the latest surgical and non-surgical procedures for the face, breasts, body, and skin. with all of plastic surgery centers and Medical Spas in the Central Texas region, selecting the right practice and the right surgeon may seem like a daunting task. To help men and women make an informed decision about where they choose to receive treatment, the Plastic Surgery Center of Austin is advising them on the qualifications that they should look for in their plastic surgeon.

Dr. David Mosier and Dr. Steven Holzman of the Plastic Surgery Center of Austin say perhaps the most important indication of a plastic surgeon’s experience and skill is whether or not he or she is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). To become board-certified by the ABPS, a plastic surgeon must graduate from an accredited medical school and complete at least five years of post-graduate training. This advanced training must take place through an accredited residency program, and the applicant must train exclusively in plastic surgery for at least two of the five years. To complete the certification procedure, the surgeon must pass rigorous oral and written exams to demonstrate his or her mastery of the subject matter.

Although several other organizations are eligible to certify plastic surgeons, the ABPS is the only one that is recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties. Dr. Mosier and Dr. Holzman of the Plastic Surgery Center of Austin are board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. They provide individuals interested in plastic surgery procedures such as a facelift or tummy tuck in Austin with experienced, knowledgeable care. Dr. Mosier feels that the certification process is very important for plastic surgeons’ professional growth and development. “I think it’s important to become board-certified because these are tests that are taken by plastic surgeons that allow them to be the best they possibly can in their field.”

Doctors at the Plastic Surgery Center of Austin say patients can typically rest assured that ABPS certified plastic surgeons are experienced professionals who are indeed devoted to their field. The ABPS will not certify doctors unless their primary career is in plastic surgery. however, this does not mean that doctors who are not ABPS certified are banned from performing plastic surgery procedures. This is one of the main reasons why patients must choose their plastic surgeon carefully.

A recent article in Marie Claire describes how gynecologists, pediatricians, dentists, and other medical professionals have begun to offer facelifts, BOTOX® Cosmetic, and other procedures even though they may have little to no formal training in them. Gretchen Voss, the author of the article, writes that the reason some doctors may have started offering procedures that they are not qualified to perform is that declining insurance reimbursements have caused them to look for other sources of revenue. The Marie Claire article goes on to describe the risks of choosing to undergo plastic surgery treatment with unqualified, uncertified health care professionals, including some who practice at Medical Spas. Voss writes ‘Though these hybrid retail operations have caused injuries and deaths, they lack any national standards and oversight organizations.’

Board-certified plastic surgeons are often trained in a variety of complex procedures that can help individuals enhance their appearance and self-confidence. One popular treatment is performed on new moms to restore the figures that they had before pregnancy. Mothers are encouraged to determine how familiar their plastic surgeon is with this procedure and to ask to see before-and-after photos of previous patients. a board-certified surgeon can answer any questions the patient has about treatment and can tailor the procedure to meet the patient’s individual needs.

Dr. David Mosier and Dr. Steven Holzman are both certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and offer safe and effective treatments for the face, body, and skin. Individuals interested in breast augmentation in Austin and other cosmetic procedures can contact their practice by phone at (512) 592-3115. The Plastic Surgery Center of Austin is located at 6818 Austin Center Boulevard, Suite 206, Austin, Texas, 78731.

Kalos Facial Plastic Surgery Introduces the Mini Deep Plane Facelift to the Atlanta Metropolitan Area

Atlanta, GA (Vocus/PRWEB) February 23, 2011

Facial Plastic Surgeon, Benjamin C. Stong MD, introduces the Mini Deep Plane Facelift to the Atlanta Metro Area. Facelift surgery is an intensely personal decision and many patients can have difficulty sorting through the marketing terminology in the facial plastic surgery industry in order to choose the surgeon and the type of facelift most appropriate for their individual issues. often, patients can have a significant degree of anxiety and uncertainty when choosing their plastic surgeon. Seeking out a facial plastic surgeon with the latest and most advanced facelift surgery techniques as well as choosing the surgeon one feels most comfortable with will avoid bad and even sometimes disastrous outcomes.

Many of the mini facelift surgery techniques available today can only offer short term corrections for their aging jawlines and neck. most patients want to have the longest lasting results in order to avoid additional surgeries and healing periods and requiring fewer surgeries during their lifetime. Revision facelift surgeries are often more challenging for the surgeon and more expensive for the patient, and getting it right the first time is of paramount importance.

Expert facelift surgeons agree that the deep plane facelift provides the most superior outcomes and long lasting results in facelift surgery techniques available today. Older, more traditional facelift incisions have been associated with unacceptable scarring that can be difficult for the patient to camouflage. In recent years, cosmetic surgeons have refined facelift incisions to develop the shortest, least noticeable facelift incisions. These incisions have several different names including: the s-lift, short scar facelift, endoscopic facelift, and mini facelift.

Until recently, the deep plane facelift was unable to be performed through the tiny hidden incisions of a mini facelift. A few national and international expert facelift surgeons have refined the technique to be able to perform the deep plane facelift through these shorter facelift incisions. Dr. Benjamin C. Stong at Kalos Facial Plastic Surgery trained with one of these advanced facelift surgeons and now delivers this superior facelift procedure to his clients in the Atlanta metropolitan area and patients throughout the United States as well as the world.

An additional benefit to the mini deep plane facelift, is that it can be performed safely in smokers as well as revision surgery patients with the shortest downtime, thereby getting patients back to work and their social lives as fast as possible. Laser skin resurfacing can also be performed safely during the deep plane facelift avoiding significant complications associated with skin resurfacing procedures with other facelift surgery techniques.

According to Dr. Stong, "the mini deep plane facelift is safe and effective in all age groups, genders, and skin types, while providing long lasting outcomes." Kalos facial plastic surgery is the first to offer this technique in Atlanta and the surrounding areas. the cost is similar to other facelifts widely available today, just without the uncertainty of the outcomes. Dr. Stong is a facial plastic surgeon who is familiar with the Mini Deep Plane Facelift procedure and his experience with the Mini Facelift is a key component to achieving the best and longest lasting results.

Dallas Plastic Surgeon Discusses Increased Demand for Cosmetic Surgery Evident with Economic Upturn

Cosmetic surgery procedures increased 5% nationally from 2009 to last year. Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Sam Jejurikar of Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute reports that these national trends are also evident in the Dallas-Ft. Worth metroplex.

Dallas, TX (Vocus/PRWEB) February 13, 2011

last year, according to a recent publication of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, 13.1 million cosmetic procedures were performed in the United States. This represents a five percent increase from 2009. While non-invasive procedures represent 11.6 million of these procedures, the number of invasive surgical procedures was also on the rise at nearly 1.6 million. Board certified Dallas plastic surgeon Dr. Sam Jejurikar, of Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute, reports that these national trends are consistent with trends he’s observed in his Dallas and Plano offices.

“I’ve noticed a huge increase in patient demand for non-invasive procedures such as Botox and facial fillers,” says Dr. Jejurikar, “not to mention an increase in surgical procedures which may help patients get ahead in the workplace.”

The most common cosmetic surgical procedures performed last year in the United States, in order, were breast augmentation, rhinoplasty (nose reshaping), blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), liposuction and tummy tuck. Dr. Jejurikar notes that it’s common for many of his patients to get two or more of these procedures in combination.

The two most common non-invasive procedures performed in the United States are Botulinum Toxin injections, such as Botox or Dysport, and facial fillers, which are used to fill deeper facial lines. these include agents such as Juvederm, Restylane, Radiesse, Perlane, Artefill and Scultpra. Dr. Jejurikar reports that the increased demand for these procedures seems to be greater than that for invasive procedures.

“Botox, Dysport and facial fillers are relatively quick treatments and less expensive than more invasive procedures. Although the results are transient, the benefits are a more youthful appearance and perhaps an advantage in the workplace.”

In summary, the demand for cosmetic surgical procedures and noninvasive cosmetic treatments is increasing nationally and in the Dallas–Ft. Worth metroplex. Dr. Jejurikar performs all of these procedures in his Plano and Dallas offices. Dr. Jejurikar is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and a member of the prestigious Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute. not only is he certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, but he performed advanced training in aesthetic surgery, ensuring that he can offer his patients cutting edge cosmetic treatments. His office can be contacted via telephone at 214-827-2814 or via the Internet.

Dr. Paul Rottler — the Right Candidates for Breast Augmentation Surgery

Renowned St. Louis plastic surgeon recommends this popular surgery to select patients he feels are ideal candidates.

St. Louis, MO (Vocus) August 24, 2010 — According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, breast augmentation surgery is the third most popular surgery among surgeons who are members of the organization. Only liposuction and rhinoplasty ranked higher. of those surgeries, approximately one half were performed on patients ages 19 to 34. because of its popularity, breast augmentation is a procedure St. Louis plastic surgeon Dr. Paul Rottler knows well. He chooses candidates for the surgery carefully to ensure they are ready for the changes it brings.

When asked about the popularity of the surgery, Dr. Rottler stated, “when it comes to improving a woman’s view of her self, few surgeries do more than breast augmentation. Women who have naturally flat chests or who have a noticeable difference in size between one breast and the other can benefit from the surgery.”

Women who come to Dr. Rottler for breast augmentation begin the process with a consultation. “The initial consultation is crucial for both me and the woman considering breast augmentation. St. Louis area patients come in to discuss their wishes and get to know me a little better. this helps me to decide if they are a good candidate for the surgery and if I can provide them with the look they want, while allowing them the opportunity to learn more about me, my credentials, and my outlook on the surgery.”

When asked who he considered to be good candidates for the surgery, Dr. Rottler responded, “Women who have a clear understanding of what they want, are in a good psychological state, and have realistic expectations for the results. often these are women who have a naturally small chest or have asymmetry issues. sometimes women who have had babies and lost fullness in their breasts see tremendous improvement after the surgery.”

The surgery begins with an incision under the breast or in the armpit. through this incision, Dr. Rottler inserts an implant that increases the size of the breast. It takes approximately one hour and is performed on an outpatient basis.

“one of the most common questions I receive about the procedure is what to expect afterwards,” stated Dr. Rottler. He indicates that most patients return to work within two to four days after the procedure, but will need to wear a bra for up to four weeks after the surgery. Pain is controlled with the use of prescription or over-the-counter pain relievers. “I always recommend that my patients have someone at home to help them for the first day or two after surgery,” he continued. “this is when discomfort is the greatest, and most patients need some help.”

If you're considering St. Louis Plastic Surgery, Dr. Rottler MD FACS at (314) 966-8880 offers a wide array of procedures for the face, breast, and body. Call today to schedule a consultation.

Dr. Jeffrey Donaldson Reveals How Fat Transfer to the Face Improves Facial Rejuvenation

With fat transfer, Columbus, Ohio plastic surgeon, Dr. Jeffrey Donaldson, improves youthful volume in the face. Used as an additional therapy to a facelift surgery or used alone, fat transfer uses ones own fat to plump the tissue of aging areas of the face.

Columbus, OH (Vocus) July 20, 2010 – according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, soft tissue fillers increased 7% from 2008 to 2009 where botulinum toxin type A usage decreased 4%. This data simply reinforces the message that Dr. Jeffrey Donaldson has been telling all of his patients, “volume in the face is the latest treatment of aging.”

Reports Dr. Donaldson, a plastic surgeon in Columbus, Ohio, “fat transfer or fat grafting is one of the latest techniques to restoring volume to the face, to achieve a youthful, natural facial appearance.”

Recently seen on Fox 28 on July 15, 2010, Dr. Donaldson discusses a combination therapy of fat transfer with eyelid surgery and facelift. “You can’t just pull it tight, and hope that it looks ok. we really need to fill these areas and contour them with a natural soft look.”

Dr. Donaldson comments, “Historically, the steps for a plastic surgeon to take in treating an aging face was to lift, tighten, stretch and smooth the skin, but now we know that this just redrapes the skin over the same thinning, underlying tissue.”

The new approach is to rejuvenate the face completely by restoring tissue volume where it has faded or decreased with age. This may include fat grafts with or without the addition of hyaluronic acid filler such as Restylane and Juvederm. A combination of treatments are evaluated on a per patient basis with the goal of filling the deeper tissues which results in the skin being pushed out and wrinkles smooth more naturally.

But unlike hyaluronic acid fillers whose effects fade with time, fat transfer only has to be done once for permanent results. after the surgeon removes the fat from the body and purifies it, and injects it to an area of the face, the fat will survive where injected and provide lasting effects through stem cell activity. Dr. Donaldson reports that it is quite common to see many patients with ongoing improvements in skin tone, pore size and overall appearance for several years following the procedure.

“It’s a small amount of fat … it’s small enhancements that tend to take on the blood supply of the surrounding tissue so you can have a nice, soft appearance. so the risks, inevitably, a little bit of bruising, some swelling, but after a week or two it fades out nicely,” comments Dr. Donaldson.

Not only is fat transfer ideal for smoothing wrinkles, it also smoothes deep acne scars, damage from radiation and skin grafts. Unlike fillers, fat transfer only has to be done once for has permanent results.
